Animals are more than just pets. They are our special friends in nature and each is amazing in its own way. Here are three students sharing their favourite animal friends.
My favourite animals are chameleons. I like chameleons because they can change colour. Many people think that chameleons change colour to look similar to the environment. But that’s not true! They change colour when they feel afraid, angry, too cold, or too hot. Chameleons also have a long, sticky tongue. They use it to catch insects. Do you know their eyes can look in two different directions at once Amazing, right ——Amy
I really love elephants. They are big and kind. Their trunks are very strong and useful. They use their trunks to pick up food and put it in their mouths. They also collect water in their trunks and blow it out to drink or take a shower. I enjoy watching videos of elephants. Baby elephants stay close to their mothers. I laugh a lot when they fall over their own feet—they’re so cute! ——Steve
Dolphins are my favourite animals. I like them because they’re so smart and friendly. They communicate with clicks and whistles, almost like a secret language. Even when they are far apart in the sea, they can still hear each other. Some dolphins live in zoos and have to do tricks for people, like jumping through circles. That makes me really sad. In the first class, the teacher said, “Rock climbing needs strength, speed, courage and persistence.” But for Bob, rock climbing was just a fun game.
In the following classes, the teacher asked the students to run 1,000 meters first and then climb with a rope (绳子). After running, Bob was almost out of breath. He got bored, and didn’t even want to touch the rope. The teacher saw his change and asked, “Why did you join this club ”

A sudden power cut at night can be scary, especially if you’re home alone. The following simple steps will help you stay safe.
Take a deep breath to make you less worried. Power cuts happen sometimes, so don’t be afraid. Believe you can stay safe.
Quickly check for possible dangers. Do not light candles, because they can easily start a fire. Instead, turn on a flashlight or your phone’s flashlight. If you see some electric sparks of fire or catch a smell of burning plastic, leave your home at once and call the fire department.
After making sure there is no danger, walk to a window and check the buildings nearby. If only your building is dark, the problem is probably inside your building. Maybe the property management office (物业管理) is already fixing it and the power will return soon. However, if all buildings in your neighbourhood go dark, the problem is with the power company. They will send workers to repair it, but it may take some time.
If your house is the only one without power, while your neighbors still have electricity, perhaps there is something wrong with your home’s circuit breaker (跳闸). You may have seen your dad fix the circuit breaker box before, but never try to repair it yourself. Wait for an adult to do it. Climbing high in the dark is dangerous, and you may get an electric shock.
Once you have checked for danger and found the reasons, stay indoors and call your parents. Do not go out alone. Wait quietly for your parents and the power to come back.
36.Which steps should we follow if there’s a night power cut
a. Try to find out why the power is out. b. Cool yourself down.

B. When all the buildings nearby are dark.
C. When the rice cooker is burning in your home.
D. When neighbors have electricity but you don’t.

Students in our school do green things every day at school. Look! It's 5:30 p. m. after school. Kate turns off the air conditioner. Bill shuts down the computer and Tim switches off the lights to save electricity. Ken and Ann reuse water to water plants. I'm Peter. I'm turning off the dripping tap to save water.
I think these acts are great because our natural resources are limited. In daily life, I also walk or ride bikes for short trips. Small green acts help protect our Earth.
