Nevertheless, rather than regarding the invasive seaweed merely as useless waste materials, Mexico has begun to actively seek effective approaches to change it into practical and beneficial products. In recent years, several research groups and companies have worked together to pioneer innovative technical solutions, aiming to turn abundant sargassum resources into raw construction materials, biofuels as well as other kinds of sustainable supplies.
One example is a Mexican startup that produces eco-friendly bricks made partly from dried sargassum. These bricks are strong and can help reduce the amount of waste on the beaches.
