But do you ever look carefully at RMB money notes They are not only for buying. They are like nice works of art and carry much Chinese history and culture (文化).
Let’s learn from the 5-yuan note. On the front of it, there is a beautiful picture of Dunhuang’s special ceiling design (顶棚设计). We can often see this kind of ceiling in old Chinese buildings. It is round (圆形的) on the top and square at the bottom. It shows the old Chinese idea: the sky is round and the earth is square. The design tells us how smart Chinese people were.
There is also a white flower called narcissus on the note. It comes out in winter and early spring, near the Spring Festival. It means good luck and new wishes for the new year. On the back is Mount Taishan, one of China’s famous mountains. People once went there to hold big activities and wish the country safe and strong.
Today we often use phone payment. But RMB notes are still valuable. They show our great traditional culture.

Task 1
Last year, our class wanted to have an English Corner after school. We hoped we could speak more English and get on well with our classmates. But things didn’t go well at first.
