Connect with Water
March 22 is World Water Day. It tells us that water is important for people and our Earth. But do you know it also keeps our mind healthy
Water can connect our senses(感官)
When we play in water or walk by a river, water connects our senses. At the beach, we can see the waves, hear them crashing (拍打), smell the salty air, and feel the cool water on our feet. Being near water makes us feel peaceful. Scientists call this blue space. It can be the sea, lakes, rivers, or anywhere with water. Scientists think blue spaces help us relax.
How is it good for us
Researcher Kate Campbell says water can relax our body and clear (清理) our busy minds. Just looking at water helps us pay attention. It can slow our heart and calm our thoughts. And the sound of rushing water helps some people sleep. Studies show people feel happier living near the sea, and sea air is good for our health. Also, water makes us more creative (有创造力的). That’s why we often get good ideas when taking a bath.
Connect with water
We don’t need to live by the sea to connect with water. A warm bath is great, or just feel the rain. If you don’t like getting wet, sit by the window and watch raindrops (雨滴) race down the glass! At the beach, look at the huge sea. It can help us forget our worries. We may realize how small we are, and our problems aren’t that big after all.

Yuvi Agarwal is a boy from Houston. He found that playing the keyboard calmed his noisy (吵闹的) dog. He wondered, “Could music comfort shelter (收容所) animals, too ” With support from his parents, he started a program called Wild Tunes in 2023. It invites musicians to play musical instruments at animal shelters. Now plenty of volunteers (志愿者) of all ages play instruments at many shelters in cities like Houston and Denver.
Yuvi explained that music can cross borders—even between humans and animals. At the Denver Animal Shelter, he played for an old dog. The dog became calm in a few minutes and fell asleep. In Houston, a rescue dog refused to leave her cage (笼子) to eat. But after Yuvi played music, she came out and kissed his face.
Does music really help animals Dr. Lori Kogan, a scientist, says they still don’t have enough evidence (证据). She points out many things are important, like the place, the kind of music, how loud the music is, and the animal’s past. But she says you can try playing music for your pet. If it helps your pet relax, that is good.
Scientists still have different ideas, but Yuvi believes music can comfort nervous animals. He plans to bring his program to the whole country. Volunteers also benefit: they can play music or sing for animals that will not judge (评判) them. This makes them more confident. Yuvi’s work shows that the calming power of music may work for animals too.

A. His experience with his dog.
B. Some advice from his parents.

A. The dog loves to play with humans.
B. The dog becomes even sleepier with music.

27.What is the best title (标题) for the passage

A vlogger is someone who makes and posts short videos on the Internet. They share their opinions, interests and experiences so that people can learn something or just watch for fun.

Her love for plants can be easily seen in her well-prepared videos. They show the beauty of each plant and fun topics about plants. The topics are popular—plants that can be used to wash hair, flowers that carry special meanings or fruits that taste good in childhood memories.
Chen surprised people last year by showing how to use red peppers to make lipstick (口红). The video had over 4,000,000 views on the Internet. In the video, Chen shared her real-time experience. Her followers asked if she could feel the spiciness (辛辣). “To be frank (坦率的), I can feel it on my lips!” Chen said laughingly.
It usually takes Chen three to four days to make a mid-length video. She says the most difficult part is researching because she needs to check every piece of information many times. “I need to read a large number of books and double-check everything I want to use in my videos on different websites,” Chen says. “Sometimes I also ask university teachers for advice.”
Speaking of her future plans, Chen says she wants to go on exploring the world of plants. “My job is valuable (有价值的) when people say they fall in love with those plants because of me,” Chen says. “I’d like to show the interesting side of plants. I did a survey on my classmates’ free-time activities.
Here are the results. The chart shows that 15 students like playing video games in their free time. 12 students often do sports to keep healthy. 8 students enjoy drawing pictures to feel relaxed. However, only 5 students spend their time reading books.
In my opinion, we should spend more time doing meaningful things. For example, reading books can open our eyes. Doing sports is good for our health. We had better make a plan for our free time and not play video games too much.
