Have you ever wondered what the Earth was like millions of years ago Fossils (化石) can help answer this question. They provide valuable information about animals and plants that lived long ago. They can also tell us about ancient climates, environments, and even changes in the Earth’s surface over time.
A fossil is something left by a plant or an animal from the past. Fossils are not common because they must survive for thousands or even millions of years. This is how fossils are formed (形成). When plants or animals die, they are quickly covered underground. As time passes, the soft parts of the body disappear, while the hard parts, such as bones or teeth, remain. Over time, changes under the ground may bring some fossils closer to the Earth’s surface. Wind, rain, and rivers slowly wear away soil (土壤) above them. Finally, some fossils may appear on the surface. And therefore people can discover fossils.
Fossils can tell us many interesting stories. For example, scientists found the fossil of a snake with a baby dinosaur inside it. This showed that some snakes ate young dinosaurs. Scientists also found small plant seeds in dinosaur droppings. This suggests that some dinosaurs might have eaten rice-like plants. In another discovery, insects were found in amber. Such fossils offer important evidence about life and environments long ago.
Every fossil has a story to tell. By studying fossils, scientists can better understand the history of life on Earth and how our world has changed through time.

A. It was a kind of young dinosaur.
B. It usually ate some seeds-bearing plants.
C. It ate a baby dinosaur in the past.
D. It lived a very long time in the amber.
29.What does the underlined word “evidence” mean in Paragraph 3
A. Living plants. B. Hard stones. C. Funny stories. D. Helpful signs.
30.Which can be the best title for the passage

The Green Way of Farming in Shunde
In Shunde, Guangdong, there is a special way of farming. It is called the “mulberry-dike fish-pond.” (桑基鱼塘). It is a great example of resource recycling. In this special system, nothing is wasted, and every part supports the other in a perfect natural cycle.
First, look at the land around the water. Farmers grow mulberry trees on the high ground next to the fish ponds. These trees have many fresh green leaves. Farmers pick these leaves to feed silkworms. Silkworms are small, but they eat a lot! They grow quickly and make silk for clothes. While they eat, they also make waste. This waste is not rubbish because it is full of nutrients for other animals. It falls into the pond and serves as natural food for fish. The fish stay very healthy and strong with this special food.
Over time, the pond bottom (底部) is filled with thick mud (泥土) made of silkworm waste, fish waste, and leftover food. Farmers spread the mud on the ground around the trees, which helps the trees grow taller and produce even more leaves. Now, the big circle starts again!
The whole cycle repeats all year round. It took great wisdom for the farmers to create such a system, in which nothing goes to waste and every part supports the others. People today still see this ancient farming way as a perfect model of ecological farming.

My teacher just smiled and said, “Good try.” After that, I learned courage is not having no fear, but doing something even when afraid. — Emma, Class 4, Grade 7HonestyI once broke my mom’s favorite cup. I wanted to hide it. But I felt bad. I told her the truth. She was not angry. She said being honest is more important than a cup. Now I always tell the truth, even when it’s hard. Being honest makes me feel lighter inside. — Lisa, Class 1, Grade 8DoubtI tried out for the school basketball team three times but I failed every time. I started to think I was not good enough.
