1 I've studied in China for a year and now it's the Christmas holiday. I've been back in the UK for three days, but it feels like a century! It's amazing to see my family. Also, I really love Christmas and the delicious food. However, I've had some digital problems here.
2 Today, I wanted to get some vegetables and meat from a shop. I decided to ride a shared bike to get there. But it took forever to find a bike! I finally found an old one. But that 15-minute ride cost me an arm and a leg — more than five pounds!
3 In the shop, I quickly got everything I needed. I wanted to pay with my smartphone. I asked the shopkeeper to show the QR code, but she didn't understand! Next, I tried to use my digital wallet, but the shop's payment system didn't work. The shopkeeper told me to use cash. As I always make digital payments in China, I never carry my wallet. I had to go home to get some cash.
4 When I got home, I was so tired that I gave up on cooking. I ordered my favourite dishes through an app instead, but the delivery was really slow. When my dishes finally arrived 90 minutes later, they were stone cold! By then, I felt tired and hungry.
5 Except for today, I've had a great holiday. However, I'm looking forward to going back to China. The technology there lets me live a more convenient life!

我在中国学习了一年，现在到圣诞假期了。我回到英国已经三天，却感觉像过了一个世纪！见到家人实在太开心了。我也十分期待圣诞节和各种美食。但在这里，我遇到了不少数字生活方面的麻烦。
今天我想去商店买些蔬菜和肉，打算骑共享单车过去。可找单车花了好久！好不容易找到一辆破旧的，短短 15 分钟车程，价格却贵得离谱 —— 花了 5 英镑多！
到店里，我很快选好了所有东西，想用手机付款。我请店主出示收款二维码，可她完全不懂！接着我又尝试数字钱包支付，店铺的支付系统却无法使用。店主让我用现金。我在中国一直都是线上支付，从来不带钱包，只能回家取钱。
到家后我疲惫不堪，干脆不做饭了，用软件点了爱吃的外卖，配送速度却特别慢。90 分钟后餐品终于送到，饭菜已经冰凉透底！那一刻我又累又饿。
除了今天这件糟心事，我的假期整体很不错。但我已经盼着回到中国了，那里的数字科技让生活便利太多！

1 In her diary, on 17 May 2157, Margie wrote: "Today, Tommy found a real book!"
2 It was a very old book. They turned the old, yellow pages. It was strange to read the words. They stood still on the pages, instead of moving across a screen.
3 "What a waste!" said Tommy. "When you finish the book, you just throw it away, I guess. Our television screen must have a million books on it! I wouldn't throw it away."
4 Margie asked, "What's the book about "
5 "School."
6 "Why would anyone write about school "
7 "Because it's an old kind of school, from hundreds of years ago. They had a teacher, but it was a person. There was a special building, and all the kids and teachers went there."
8 Margie wanted to read about those funny schools. But her mother called, "Margie! School!"
9 Margie's classroom was right next to her bedroom. Her teacher was a machine. It was on and waiting for her. The screen was lit up. The machine said: "Today's lesson is on maths. Please put yesterday's homework in the opening."
10 Margie did so sadly. She was thinking about the old schools. All the kids from the neighbourhood came, and laughed and shouted in the playground. They sat together in the classroom, and went home together after school.

12 Margie was thinking about how the students must have loved school in the old days. She was thinking about the fun they had.

三、本单元核心语法：动词不定式作宾语补足语（infinitive as object complement）
1. 概念
宾语补足语用来补充说明宾语的动作、状态；to do / 省略 to 的动词原形放在宾语后，作宾语补足语，完整结构：主语 + 动词 + 宾语 + (to) do。
2. 两大分类
（1）带 to 的不定式 to do 作宾补
常用动词：ask, tell, allow, want, expect, advise, encourage
结构：动词 + sb + to do sth（要求 / 允许 / 想要某人做某事）
课文例句：
I asked the shopkeeper to show the QR code.
我请店主出示二维码。（ask sb to do）
Mobile payment allows us to use our smartphones to pay for things easily.
移动支付让我们能用手机轻松付款。（allow sb to do）
否定形式：动词 + sb + not to do
例：My mum told me not to play phone too long. 妈妈告诉我别长时间玩手机。
（2）不带 to 的不定式（动词原形）作宾补
核心使役动词：let, make, have（主动语态去掉 to）
结构：let/make/have + sb + do sth
课文例句：
The technology there lets me live a more convenient life!
那里的科技让我生活更便利。（let sb do）
Shared bikes have made us get around cities more conveniently.
共享单车让我们出行更方便。（make sb do）
特殊：help 两种均可
help sb do sth = help sb to do sth 帮助某人做某事
课文例句：They guided me paint bamboos step by step. = They guided me to paint bamboos.
3. 关键易错点
1.被动语态中，let/make/have 必须还原 to
主动：He made me clean the room.
被动：I was made to clean the room.
2.区分：不定式作宾语 vs 作宾补
want to do（to do 作宾语，无独立宾语）
want sb to do（to do 作宾补，sb 是宾语，to do 补充 sb 动作）
