I ask some of my students, “How often do you take part in after-school activities ” Most of them may say, “I don’t have time because I have too much homework. I don’t want to waste my time on after-school activities.” But if you think that way, you are wrong!

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is changing our world. You may not see it, but AI is already in your daily life. When you take photos with a smartphone, AI can find faces and make the picture look better. When you watch videos online, the app can play new videos you might like. That’s AI. When you talk to a voice assistant (语音助手) like Siri or Xiaodu, you are using AI, too.
AI learns from a lot of information. For example, to teach AI to tell cats from dogs, scientists give it many cat and dog pictures. AI studies these pictures and slowly learns what a cat looks like and what a dog looks like. This way of learning is called “machine learning.”
Today, AI helps in many important areas. In hospitals, AI can help doctors find illnesses early. In schools, AI can make special study plans for each student. At home, smart speakers can turn on the lights or play music when they hear your voice. Some cars can even drive themselves with the help of AI.
But AI also brings some problems. Some people worry that AI might take away their jobs. Others worry about their personal information. AI is getting smarter, so we need to use it carefully and wisely. The future of AI is exciting, but we must remember: AI is a tool to help humans, not to replace us.
36. What can AI do when you take photos with a smartphone
A.Print photos.
B.Send photos.
C.Take photos.
D.Make photos better.
37. How many examples of AI in daily life does the writer give in Paragraph 1
A.One B.Two C.Three D.Four
38. How does AI learn to tell cats from dogs
A.By asking people.
B.By studying many pictures.
C.By watching one video.
D.By reading books.
39. What is the writer’s main purpose (目的) in writing this passage
A.To introduce AI and help us understand it.
B.To tell a funny story.
C.To sell a new phone.
D.To teach us how to make an AI system.
40. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A.AI can only be used in hospitals.
B.The writer believes AI is a tool to help humans.
C.AI has no problems at all.
D.People are not worried about AI.
四、任务型阅读
阅读短文,并按要求完成下面小题。
Sleep is not just a time of rest. It is a key time for the body and brain to repair themselves and grow. For teenagers, getting enough good sleep is even more important because their bodies are changing fast and their brains are busy with new information from school and life. Scientists say that middle school students need 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night.
Sadly, many teenagers today do not sleep well. One big reason is the use of phones, laptops or computers before bed. The blue light from these screens can stop the brain from making melatonin (褪黑素). Melatonin is a hormone (激素) that helps us feel sleepy and fall asleep easily. When melatonin is low, students may feel wide awake (醒着的) even though they are tired. Another reason is stress from schoolwork. Worrying about tests or homework can keep the mind active at night, making it harder to sleep.
When students do not get enough sleep, it affects their school life. They may find it difficult to focus on the class. So, sleep is just as important as healthy food and exercise.

A Trip to Dongfang Farm
Last month, we had a wonderful school trip. We visited Dongfang Farm on a sunny day in May. We went there by school bus. I learned a lot and I hope we can have another great trip soon.
