As an education researcher and former high school history teacher, I know that history class can stimulate critical thinking — but only if teachers and schools understand what it really means.
Some might consider critical thinking an ability that teachers can encourage. Or they might be referring to specific skills — for instance, that students should learn a set of steps to take to assess information online.
