If you are struggling for planning a perfect birthday party, try our Birthday Planners (Become our member now and get one free planner). They put all details in one place, so the only thing you are thinking about on the day is how much fun everyone is having.
Choose One Type That Fits Your Actual Situation:
Type I: It helps parents a lot when they are planning their kids’ birthdays since they need more preparation, such as decoration, return gifts, activities, and a full guest list.
Type II: It is perfect for first-time planners since it gives you a week-by-week timeline along with different tasks to complete.
Type III: If you are on a tight budget, it offers you a detailed budget tracker that helps you plan your spending across food, decoration and entertainment.
Type IV: For anyone working with limited time, it helps to identify what must happen first, so even a two-week timeline produces a party worth remembering.
How to Use the Birthday planner Without Losing Track
Decide the date, location, and guest list first so all other plans and budgets are based on real numbers.
Use a Birthday planner to break planning into weeks before, days before, and the event day, so tasks stay clear instead of turning into one stressful rush.
A Birthday planner works best when each task is taken care of by a specific person. Even if you work on the plan alone, this habit forces you to finish the task on time.
Open your Birthday planner, run through every item, and confirm that they are actually done. It is still manageable if you find something is missing three days ahead.

Dr. Lara, head of the California Area School District in Coal Center, Pennsylvania, has 30 3D printers in her office. While she does enjoy 3D printing as a hobby, these printers shoulder a much greater mission: They are used to print violins for low-income students.
For schools, violins can cost $500 to $2,000 each, which often means hundreds of dollars in rental fees per family each school year. For the students attending schools in Lara’s district, that’s just not a cost their families can afford.
However, Lara is determined to keep arts education alive for the students she serves. After seeing a video of an orchestra (管弦乐团) playing 3D-printed instruments, a passion took hold. “I started testing. I found some models online. I’m not a computer scientist or an engineer by any means, but after a variety of failures, I found one that actually printed and it sounded good. It’s a great start for kids,” Lara told CBS News.
Each violin costs just $50 to make, and they are now offered for free to any student who wants one, thanks to the social funding. Although these violins don’t sound exactly like a traditional wooden one, they are easier to tune (调音) and fix. “If they break, it’s not a big deal. I can print the new part,” Lara added. “And to me, getting kids hands-on instruments is what gets them access to music. And so the more instruments I can get in kids’ hands, the happier I am.”
After the students play violin for three years, they get a wooden violin on their third year so that they can receive a more traditional and formal music education as they advance in their studies. Some students express interest in playing other instruments like the cello, and now Lara is working with the students on the new design.
4. Why did Lara print 3D violins
A.To develop her new hobby in music.
B.To test the functions of the 3D printers.
C.To include more kids in music education.
D.To work on a mission with some schools.
5. What gave Lara the idea to print 3D violins
A.A video she saw.
B.An orchestra she joined.
C.A model she tested.
D.An instrument she bought.
6. What is Paragraph 4 mainly about
A.The way to get a free violin.
B.The advantages of a 3D violin.
C.The reactions of the students.
D.The process of printing a violin.
7. What will Lara possibly do in the near future
A.Lower the cost of 3D violin.
B.Provide formal music training.
C.Survey students’ interest in instruments.
D.Print some other musical instruments.

At Pow Wows (帕瓦仪式) the Jingle Dress Dance is one of the most popular styles of dancing. The dancers are wearing dresses in every color imaginable and decorated with beautiful patterns. They also wear a thick brown belt. But what makes the dresses stand out is the metal decorations attached to them. The decorations can make sounds like rain falling, which is so unique that you know that a Jingle dancer is nearby immediately.
The dance itself began just over a century ago when the granddaughter of a medicine man fell sick. As the man slept he dreamed, over and over, of four women as his spirit guides dancing in Jingle Dresses. The women taught the man how to make the dress, what songs to play, and how to perform the dance. The spirits told him that making the dress and performing the dance would make his granddaughter well.
When the man awoke, he set out and made the dress. When he dressed the girl and taught her to dance, the villagers gathered to watch. At first, she was too weak and had to be supported and carried by the villagers. Slowly she gained her strength and performed the dance on her own. The dance magically cured her sickness.
The young girl probably caught the flu of 1918 which hit the native communities around the Great Lakes hard. To avoid mass gathering and prevent the spread of the disease, the Jingle Dress Dancing, along with other dances, was banned (禁止) on reservations in 1921. However, instead of fading away, the Jingle Dress Dance was getting more and more popular, spreading first to the Lakota and then to the rest of the Indian region.
Today the Jingle Dress Dance is performed across the country, with young and old women often dancing to music with strong beats. Spreading from coast to coast, the dress and dance have become a spiritual form of celebration that links the past with the present, and promises to move forward into the future with strength and hope.
8. How can people tell immediately the Jingle Dress Dance is performing nearby
A.Through the belts worn by dancers.
B.Through the patterns attached to dresses.
C.Through the special shape of the decoration.
D.Through the sounds made by the decorations.
9. What was the Jingle Dress Dance originally intended for
A.For healing.
B.For celebration.
C.For education.
D.For communication.
10. Which of the following best describes the development of the Jingle Dress Dance
A.Created→Banned→Popular
B.Popular→Banned→Disappeared
C.Created→Forgotten→Revived

11. Which instrument is most likely needed for the Jingle Dress Dance according to the passage

Do you concern that you have spent too much time on surfing online with your phone But does stepping away from your phone really make a difference Researchers say yes, and a hiatus in surfing the internet on your phone can do wonders.
The researchers included 467 participants (参与者), aged 18 to 74, who were asked to install (安装) a mobile phone application to block all mobile internet access from their smartphones for a month. Although the participants had to block the internet on their phones, they were allowed to maintain mobile connection (through texts and calls) and non-mobile access to the internet (e.g. through desktop computers).
During the study, the researchers measured the participants’ happiness by using the model that consists of self-reported positive effect, negative effect, and life satisfaction. And a survey, which is often used by doctors to test depression and anxiety, was conducted to rate the participants’ overall mental health. Besides, the participants’ attention was examined by a computer task. All the measures were taken at the beginning, middle and end of the four-week study.
The results showed that 91% of the participants improved their scores in at least one aspect (方面). 71% reported better mental health after the break, compared to before, and 73% reported better happiness. A break from the internet on their phones also improved the participants’ attention. “The effects on attention were about as large as if the participants had become 10 years younger,” said one of the researchers.
“I’m not surprised by the findings,” says Dr. Julia, a psychologist at New York University. “Most people know their phones are a problem, but they just can’t stop,” she says, “When they start to behave as those in study — more exercise, time outdoors, good sleep, more social interactions — they naturally start to feel better. When people see this improvement in joy in such a short period of time, it gives them hope to have a try.”
12. What does the underlined word “hiatus” refer to
A.Break. B.Belief. C.Review. D.Preference.
13. What were the participants required to do during the study
A.To block the calls from their friends.
B.To stop going online with their mobile.
C.To text the researchers from time to time.

14. What do we know about the process of the study
A.Three measuring methods were conducted.
B.Doctors were invited to examine the participants.
C.Computers were used to report the positive effects.
D.The participants’ attention was measured by a survey.
15. What does Dr. Julia think of the findings of the study

In a five-star hotel, a young waiter named Sam worked long hours to support his family back home. He came from a small, poor village, where life was simple but hard. His income was only enough to cover his basic needs, but he was proud of his work. He was always polite and honest. Both the guests and his manager trusted him deeply.
One warm evening, Sam was cleaning a private beach house after a wealthy couple had checked out. Most guests left little behind, but this time was different. Under a pillow lay a small leather bag.
Curious, Sam opened it gently. Inside was a collection of jewelry (珠宝首饰): shining diamonds, gold necklaces, and several expensive watches. Sam had never seen such wealth. This jewelry could change his family’s life forever. He could build a comfortable house, pay for his sisters’ education, and even help lift his entire village out of poverty.
No one was watching. The beach house was empty. The security camera was pointed away from the house. He could easily have hidden the bag, taken it home, and sold the jewelry in secret. He would probably never have been caught.
But Sam did not hesitate for a moment. He closed the bag carefully, held it tightly in his hands, and walked directly to the hotel manager’s office.
The manager was shocked. He knew how valuable the jewelry was. He knew how easily Sam could have kept it.
“Most people would have taken the jewelry and run,” said the manager. _________________________________________________________________________
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“I do not want money for doing my duty,” he said to the couple. Finally the couple gave in because of Sam’s insistence (坚持).
However, news of Sam’s honesty spread around the country. The story was shared on news channels, social media, and national newspapers. People called him a hero of honesty. The government honored him with an award. Sam still works in the hotel industry today. He lives a simple but happy life. He supports his family with dignity (体面地). And he has inspired millions with a simple truth: You don’t become rich by taking what isn’t yours. You become rich by being someone others can trust.

However, with the increasing number of visitors, some have complained about inconvenient travelling across the city. To solve this problem, the government has increased more bus routes and introduced more transport choices like shared bikes.
Among all local attractions, I believe Small Park Scenic Area is the most unique. Its ancient historic buildings perfectly combine the city’s past with its lively present.
