Unit 3 Same or different？
本单元围绕“相同与不同”这一中心话题，通过朋友对比和家庭比较两个场景，学习和运用与外貌、性格、爱好相关的英语知识，感受个体差异与友谊的可贵。阅读与写作深度融合，采用“提示问题+参考词汇+写作框架”三阶导写模式，以读促写，读写结合。
第一关：阅读短文，完成任务
阅读下面三篇不同体裁的文章（记叙文、日记、人物介绍），完成后面的任务。
文章 1 —— 记叙文（Narrative）
My Best Friend and I
Many people say that friends are like mirrors — they reflect each other. But my best friend Linda and I are quite different in many ways.
Linda is taller than me and has long curly hair, while I have short straight hair. She loves sports and is on the school basketball team. I prefer reading and painting in my free time. Linda is outgoing and makes friends easily, but I am quieter and more serious.
However, we do have some things in common. We both love animals and have pet dogs at home. We also enjoy the same music — we are both big fans of Taylor Swift! Most importantly, we both believe that honesty is the most important thing in friendship. We always tell each other the truth, even when it's hard.
Last week, Linda helped me practice for the English speech contest. She is better at speaking than I am. And yesterday, I helped her with her math homework because math is my strongest subject. We help each other and learn from each other. Maybe that's why we are such good friends — not because we are the same, but because we accept each other's differences.

November 10, Thursday
Dear Diary,
Today we had a special lesson in class. Our teacher, Mr Chen, asked us to talk about "Who is different from you " Everyone shared something interesting.
I thought about my younger brother, Ming. He is only eight years old, but he is already taller than me! People always think he is the older brother. How funny is that Ming is also much more energetic than me. He runs around the house all day and never seems tired. I am calmer and like to stay in my room reading.
But we are the same in one important way — we both love playing the piano. We take lessons together every Saturday. Our teacher says we both play with great feeling, just in different styles. Ming plays fast and lively, while I play slowly and gently.
I am happy that we are different. If we were the same, life would be so boring! Different is beautiful.

My mother and I are very different in many ways, but we are also similar.
My mother is tall and has straight black hair, while I am short with curly brown hair. She loves cooking and spends hours in the kitchen. I prefer ordering food online! She is very organized and always plans everything carefully. I am more spontaneous and like to do things at the last minute.
But sometimes, I look in the mirror and see my mother's smile looking back at me. We both laugh loudly at funny movies. We both love travelling to new places. We both cannot stand people who are dishonest. And when I am in trouble, the first person I call is always my mother.
