Do you know anything about the Moon How much do you know about it Do you want to go there Scientists have told us so much about the Moon.
They have discovered that the Moon is an unfriendly place. There is no air or water. There are only dust (沙尘) and rocky (岩石构成的) mountains covering its surface. 31 When the Sun shines in the day, the temperature is very high. Daytime temperatures can reach 127℃ when the Sun shines, hot enough to boil water! But at night, it drops to -173℃, colder than Antarctica.
32 As we know, sound can only travel in the air, but there is no air on the Moon. Without air, sound cannot travel. Although two astronauts stood close, they would need radios to communicate. 33
From the Moon, Earth looks like a bright blue-and-white ball hanging in the dark sky. The scene would be wonderful. 34
Though challenging, China has made amazing progress in exploring the Moon. In 2013, Chang’e-3 became the first Chinese spacecraft to soft-land on the Moon, carrying the Yutu rover that studied lunar soil for 31 months. In 2024, Chang’e-6 successfully brought back 1.935 kilograms of moon samples, helping scientists discover new facts about the Moon’s volcanic history. 35
Would you like to join future missions to build a lunar research station

Cliffside Bookstore
A special bookstore is now very popular. It is on the cliff (悬崖边) of a 326-metre-deep sinkhole (天坑) in Hechi, Guangxi. The bookstore opened its door in May 2025. At night, lights shine on more than 10,000 books along the cliff. It brings a fun reading experience and many visitors are interested in it.
Building the bookstore was hard because of the steep karst landforms Workers used special technology (科技) to make it safe. To get there, visitors must walk down over 1,000 wooden steps. The sinkhole works as a big umbrella and helps protect the bookstore. No matter how heavy the wind and rain are, the inside of the store never gets wet. This bookstore is not only a place to read books but also a place to enjoy nature.
The project of the bookstore also helps the local village. Before 2019, the village was poor. But now, there are better roads and many villagers have returned to open homestays (民宿) and restaurants. The area also has a cliff pool, a hotel, and a cafe. So far, it has welcomed over 100,000 visitors. Many people take photos here and share them online.

C.Late-night workers like street cleaners.
24.Why does the restaurant sell one-yuan meals

根据文章第二段“Then it sells its unsold meals to delivery drivers, taxi drivers, street cleaners, and other late-night workers.”
24.根据文章第三段“The owner says there are three reasons. First, it will not waste food...Third, and most importantly, it helps people who are in need.”
25.根据画线词所在句“It just covers the cost of the meal box itself.”以及后文“but charging little money makes the kindness even much warmer”可知,一元价格很低,仅能“支付”餐盒本身的成本,结合语境可判断cover此处含义为“够支付”,并非“掩盖”或“代替”。

At night, lights shine on more than 10,000 books along the cliff. It brings a fun reading experience and many visitors are interested in it.
