“Mum, look! That traffic officer is a robot! How amazing!” a child shouted on a street in Shenzhen. The robot

signal. This is not a scene from a science fiction movie, but real life in the city.
This robot is different from earlier ones. It doesn’t just broadcast safety information; it actually helps control
traffic. With its smart AI “eyes”, the robot can monitor road conditions and give hand signals for going straight,

Have you heard of last-chance tourism It is about seeing the last of something, that’s to say, visiting places
before they disappear. Rising temperature and water levels mean that we may never get another chance to see some
islands, glaciers, animals, and so on before they disappear.
This may sound sad, but some people are using last-chance tourism as a way to let people understand the
importance of protecting nature. One example is “the Sea of Ice” in Chamonix, France. A glacier museum opened
there. Tourists can learn about glaciers and how climate change influences (影响) places like “the Sea of Ice”. This
action seems to have an effect. A survey showed that 80% of the visitors would try to learn more about nature and
how to protect it.
Although it has these advantages (优点), last-chance tourism may also have bad effects on climate change. As
more people go to the natural places in danger, they create a bigger and bigger carbon foot-print (碳足迹), leading
to the harm of these places in the end.
At the end of the tour, it’s not just about understanding the need to stop climate change. It’s more important to
stop it from getting worse.
8. What is last-chance tourism
A. Studying the history of old places.
B. Travelling to popular modern cities.
C. Visiting places before they disappear.
9. What can visitors learn in the glacier museum
A. The influence of climate change.
B. The history of old towns in France.
C. Ways to develop local tourism industry.
10. What is the main idea of Paragraph 3
A. Natural places disappear naturally.
B. Visitors can reduce carbon footprint easily.
C. Last-chance tourism has environmental problems.
11. What’s the purpose of the passage
A. To introduce last-chance tourism.
B. To show the importance of nature.
C. To share knowledge about glaciers.

五、选词填空(共 10小题;每小题 1分,满分 10分)
从方框中选择适当的单词或短语填入短文中。
what; that; whether; how; why; sweetly; energetic; should; need; must
I grew up in the quiet countryside of Shandong province, and I believe 46 the 24 Solar Terms are the
wisest treasure left by ancient villagers. I still remember clearly 47 my grandpa told me when I was little;
every solar term guides people’s farming and daily lives.
On the morning of Grain in Ear, lively birds sing 48 in trees. All villagers hurry to golden wheat
fields. Grandpa explained to me that farmers must cut wheat before heavy rains come, and that they 49 to
react quickly to weather changes. Kids run behind adults to pick up wheat ears, and everyone feels 50 in
the warm sun.
I wonder 51 these old rules still matter especially in modern times. That’s because many natural
resources still depend on such traditional calendars. Grandpa always reminds me that we 52 live wisely
with nature, and that we cannot give up our traditional culture.
Now I live in a big city far from my hometown, but I often ask myself 53 I can keep those warm
countryside memories or not. I hope that more teenagers will understand 54 ancient people lived in
harmony (和谐) with the nature. The solar terms tell us that we 55 protect natural resources, or we will
lose the peaceful beauty of the countryside forever.
六、阅读表达(共 5小题;每小题 2分,满分 10分)
阅读下面短文,按照题目要求用英语回答问题,并将答案写到答题卡的相应位置。
Imagine a dinosaur in an ancient forest. It is running around looking for its next meal. With an angry cry, it
opens its mouth, raises its beautiful feather-covered arms, and…
Wait, feathers on a dinosaur For hundreds of years, people believed that dinosaurs looked like huge lizards.
Just look at all those dinosaurs in books, films and TV shows! However, thanks to a piece of amber, scientists now
know that this idea is wrong. In the amber from Southeast Asia, they found the tail of a dinosaur-with feathers.
These beautiful golden stones quietly keep pieces of the past. They can tell us whether dinosaurs had feathers,
but that’s not all. They also help us understand that life on earth has always changed. A piece of amber from
Northern Europe, for example, holds a flower. This species no longer grows in this area. But the find proves that it
did 35 million years ago. In the future, amber may also help us discover if other species have changed over time.
Thanks to amber, more than 300 unknown species have been discovered. In a piece of amber from Africa,
scientists found 13 ants. Research shows that they are a completely new species. Scientists used to believe that ants
came from the northern half of the earth. The discovery of this African species has changed old beliefs about the
history of ants. Who knows whether this piece of amber will tell us more secrets
As a window on the past, amber has been much studied. However, it’s still not fully understood. We should
put more effort into research. Then, we can use this key to explore more secrets of nature.
51. What’s the purpose of the writer writing paragraph 1 like this
