Question 1: Why is enough sleep good for our health
Boost body growth & immunity
While we sleep, our bodies release growth hormones to develop bones and muscles. Sleep also helps our immune system make antibodies to fight colds, fevers and illnesses, so we get sick less easily.
Improve brain function & study efficiency
Sleep clears tiredness in our brains. It helps us memorize knowledge, focus better in class and think more quickly. Students without enough sleep often feel sleepy and cannot follow lessons.
Protect mental mood
Lack of sleep easily causes anxiety, bad temper and negative feelings. Proper sleep keeps us calm, cheerful and able to get along well with classmates and family.
Keep fit and avoid health risks
Short sleep disturbs metabolism, which may lead to weight gain, headaches and weak eyesight. Good sleep protects our eyes and balances our bodies.
Question 2: What should we do to keep this healthy sleep habit
Stick to a fixed schedule: Go to bed before 10 p.m. and get up at 7 a.m. every day, even on weekends.
Stop using phones, tablets or video games 1 hour before bedtime. Blue light delays sleep.
Create a quiet, dark and cool bedroom environment for rest.
Avoid heavy snacks, coffee or sweet drinks at night.
Do light exercise like walking in the evening instead of exciting sports before sleep.
Read gentle storybooks or listen to soft music to relax before sleeping.
Make a poster on the topic you discussed. Display the poster on bulletin boards in your school or community.

2. as a result of意为“由于；作为……的结果” 。
as a result of 意为“由于，作为……的结果”，后跟名词、代词 或动名词，相当于because of
as a result 作状语，意为“结果”，通常用于表达某个动作或情况的结果。它一般放在句子末尾或作为插入语，后面跟随着一个完整的句子
e.g. He fell ill as a result of staying up late.
他因为熬夜生病了。
She never exercises. As a result, she often feels tired.
她从不锻炼，所以经常感觉疲惫。
3. harm /hɑ m/ n. &v. 伤害，损害
harmful / hɑ mfl/adj. 形容词：有害的
do harm to = be harmful to 对…… 有害
反义词:harmless adj. 无害的
e.g. Don’t harm small animals.不要伤害小动物。
Smoking does harm to you.
= Smoking is harmful to you.

4. whenever = no matter when 无论何时；每当
wherever=no matter where 无论哪里

5. offer 意为“提供”
offer ①主动提出做某事， ②给某人主动提供某物 ①offer to do sth.
②offer sb. sth.
=offer sth. to sb.
provide 指有计划、有准备地提供 provide sb. with sth.
=provide sth. for sb.
e.g. She offers to carry heavy bags for the old woman.
她主动提出帮这位老奶奶提重物。
The library offers free books for all students.

7. on account of = because of 因为；由于
account / ka nt/ n. 解释；账目
e.g. He stayed at home on account of the heavy rain.

8.effect / fekt/ n. 影响；效果；
have an effect on… 对……产生影响
affect / fekt/ v. 影响；使改变；使（身体 / 情绪）受损
