Brandy is an old dog. It lives on the street. Some kind people leave food on the street for Brandy. The dog is friendly but people don’t take it home.
Brandy walks by a house and starts playing with 4-year-old Adam. Adam’s mother doesn’t like the dirty dog at first, but her son has fun playing with the dog. So she lets Brandy stay with them.
Then the boy’s mother goes to answer the phone. When she comes back, she can’t find her son at the door. The mother is frightened, so she calls the police. They look for Adam for six hours but can’t find him.
Then, a man says, “I hear some noise from the forest.” So they all run to the forest. There they see Adam sleeping under a tree. Brandy is next to Adam.
Brandy follows Adam when he walks away. When it sees him in danger, it keeps him safe. Adam’s mother thanks the dog. The family love Brandy so much after that.
After Brandy dies, the family feel so sad. Adam’s mother starts an animal club. She tries to help more animals. She always remembers Brandy because it saves her son.

Baduanjin Exercise for Children is a new book for children to do exercise. It is the very first of its kind. The book tells one of the most popular traditional (传统的) Chinese exercises to keep healthy. “Ba” means eight, “duan” means pieces and “jin” means something beautiful like silk (蚕丝). There are eight movements altogether. People are like beautiful silk when they are doing the sport.
Baduanjin can date back to the Song Dynasty and it has a history of more than 800 years. It is easy to learn, and doesn’t take much space (空间) or time. Through deep and slow breathing (呼吸), our minds will be quiet. It’s a healthy sport for both men and women, young and old. It makes thin people strong and heavy people lose fat.
The book is full of colourful pictures. For each movement (动作), it also tells the health knowledge about doing exercise. And there are many interesting historical stories about the sport in the book.
