I recently went to my first ever music festival. We Love Green was held over a weekend in a park in Paris. Like most music festivals, it had wonderful singers and music. However, there was something special about this one. You see this was a green festival!
Everything was as environmentally friendly as possible. The festival was powered by the solar energy. There were specially labelled bins so that the waste could be recycled properly after the festival. Fresh water was free to everyone so that guests didn’t need to buy drinks in plastic bottles which would create a lot of waste.
I found the experience really interesting. Having never been to a music festival before, I was unsure of what to expect. However, I was happy to find myself sitting in a chair eating a healthy, home-made fruit cake while drinking tasty juice. There were many stalls (摊位) for everyone, from small children to the elderly! This seems like such a great idea, to make something very fun and not cause great pollution to the environment.
I really hope that there will be more events like We Love Green. These environmentally friendly practices tell people being green does not mean being boring. It can be quite fun. As a result, more people may be encouraged to consider the influence they have on the environment.

With the recent discussion about the question of how much exercise is best. The answer often depends on your goals. For heart health, sessions four to five times weekly might be perfect. For mental health As The Independent reports, scientists believe there’s a pretty specific prescription (处方): Exercising for 45 minutes three to five times a week.
Researchers at Yale University and the University of Oxford made the study. They examined 1.2 million subjects who filled out the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey at two-year intervals (间隔时间) between 2011 and 2015.
Subjects who didn’t exercise at all had an average of three-and-a-half days per month when they felt mentally unwell — stressed, depressed, or suffering from emotional problems — while those who exercised regularly reported an average of just two days.
The study found that having three to five 45-minute sessions of exercise a week was best for reducing the reported problems of feeling stressed or depressed. Exercising for longer periods — some subjects reported more than 90 minutes in the gym — was connected with a drop-off in mental health benefits. Subjects who spent three hours at a time exercising actually reported an increase in depressive symptoms (症状).
Researchers also found that the kind of exercise undertaken made a difference. While all kinds of exercise helped, people who took part in team sports promoting social communication described greater self-satisfaction with mental health.
Because the study included self-reported outcomes and exercise wasn’t monitored, it’s possible that the subjects could have misread the amount of exercise performed. The study, however, makes a convincing case for a popular opinion: If exercise were a pill, doctors everywhere would be prescribing it.

System 1 is a fast and intuitive approach, which is often ruled by emotional responses, habits or instincts (本能). It has the advantage of creating fast solutions but typically tends to make common reasoning errors. System 2 describes a slow and careful approach, which includes more measured reflection on different choices. It has the advantage of leading to more purposeful results but is also connected with the cost of higher mental effort.
The test question intended to measure people’s preferences of one thinking style over the other. However, in fact, most people use a mixture of System 1 and System 2 approaches, with the context determining which system is more influential. The relative importance of a task and the amount of time available to make a choice can both influence how you think.
With this in mind, we may have to look back on our first question. Rather than trying to identify the better thinking style, the challenge appears to be one of finding balance. Knowing when to think fast and when to think slow might be the real game changer for lifting productivity and success.
