A simple letter can carry great meaning that lasts for years and crosses oceans. This idea lies at the heart of Dear You (《给阿嬷的情书》), a heartwarming film. This moving drama has touched the hearts of millions, especially young viewers.
The story is about a family discovery. A grandson travels to Thailand to find out why his grandfather left China many years ago and never returned. There, he finds a touching secret: a Thai-Chinese woman had been secretly writing letters and sending money to his grandmother in his grandfather’s name for 18 years to keep a promise. Through this personal journey, the film shows the rich cultural importance of Qiaopi.
Qiaopi, also known as “silver letters,” is far more than a letter with money sent by overseas Chinese to their families back home. During the 19th and 20th centuries, many Chaoshan people traveled to Southeast Asia for a better life. These letters became their only “lifeline” to their hometown and families.
The film shows Chaoshan traditions, such as Gongfu tea and the colorful Yingge Dance. However, what really makes audiences cry is the strength of the women in the story. They showed deep-rooted loyalty and love that could cross oceans.
Today, many young people live a fast-paced (快节奏的) life and often communicate through online messages. This movie encourages them to slow down and listen to the stories of older generations. As one viewer said, “Behind every elderly person, there was once a story of youth, passion, and deep love. ”
12. Why did the Thai-Chinese woman secretly write letters to the grandmother
A.To practice her Chinese writing skills.
B.To keep a promise and comfort the grandmother.
C.To make money from the grandmother’s family.
13. Why is Qiaopi called people’s “lifeline” in the past
A.It helped local people learn different foreign languages.
B.It carried money and connected overseas people with their families.
C.It encouraged more people to move abroad for a better life.
14. What can we learn from the viewer’s words in the last paragraph
A.Elderly people also had wonderful and meaningful experiences when they were young.
B.Young people should share their love and stories with the elderly.
C.The elderly people always remember their past stories clearly.
15. What is the main writer’s main purpose in writing this passage
A.To advise young people to write traditional letters instead of online messages.
B.To record the history and development of Qiaopi in Chaoshan area.
C.To introduce the film and explain its cultural value and spiritual meaning.

In 2024, China started a 3-year “Healthy Weight Program”(2024-2027)to help people live healthier lives. Here’s how the program works:
Two Key Actions
■ Education for Healthy Living
Families and schools are learning about healthy habits. For example, some schools are using something to see how well students get on and how much sugar they eat. Parents are asked to make sure their kids do at least one hour of physical activity every day.
■ Better Spaces for Sports
Cities are building more parks, walking trails (步道) , and sports centers. For example, Taiyuan City built more trails and parks to create a “15-minute fitness circle (健身圈) ”. This means people can find a place to exercise in 15 minutes’ walk from home.
Tips for Staying Healthy
● To eat well: Fill half your plate with vegetables and fruits. Choose brown rice instead of white rice.
● To stay active: Walk, swim, or ride bikes for 30 to 60 minutes daily. Even dancing counts!

Travelling
Travelling brings us a lot of good things. It helps us relax from busy study, lets us see different beautiful views and learn lots of new knowledge we can’t get from books.
The most unforgettable trip for me was to a mountain village last summer. I went there with my classmates. We walked along clear rivers, picked fresh wild fruits and talked with local villagers. They told us many interesting stories about their quiet village.
This trip taught me that the world is full of beauty. I hope I can travel to more wonderful places later.
