Another important rule is that we must finish our homework on time. If we break any school rule, we will be asked to help clean the blackboard or water the plants in the classroom
Hello! I’m Annie. I’m thirteen and I live in Seoul, South Korea. We must follow a lot of rules in our school. We must arrive at school before the first bell rings. If we’re late, the teacher will mark us late in the record and our parents will get a message. We mustn’t use smartphones during class — they must be turned off and kept in our lockers. We also need to read for at least 20 minutes every day and finish all our homework.
Hi! My name is Alex. I’m thirteen years old and I live in Paris. In my school, we must listen carefully to our teachers. We also have to finish our homework on time. Today was an amazing day! I went to Mount Huaguoshan, the home of the Monkey King. It was such a fun experience, and I can’t wait to write about it.
We left early at 8:00 a. m. and made it there at around 9:00 a. m. As soon as we saw the mountain, its beauty took our breath away. The green forests, different kinds of rocks, and clear skies made it look like a painting.
The beginning of our climb was easy. Along the way, we passed many rocks. Some looked like animals, while others looked like plants. There was even a monkey-shaped rock sitting on the mountain.
Before long, we reached the Water Curtain Cave. Right in front of the cave, a waterfall was rushing down. The cave wasn’t very big, but inside, there were stone beds, stone tables and stone chairs. It looked just like what the book described.
After we left the cave, we kept on climbing. The higher we went, the harder it became, and at one point, I was so tired that I wanted to give up. Luckily, my father cheered me on. “Come on! The view from the mountaintop is beautiful. From there, we can see the whole city of Lianyungang and the sea,” he said.
In the end, we reached the Yunü Peak (玉女峰), the highest peak in Jiangsu Province. My dad was right. The view on the top was really amazing.
On our way down, we saw many playful monkeys. They jumped from tree to tree, took snacks from visitors, and even posed for photos. They really made the mountain full of life.

To: Dear Mum and Dad
Subject: Thinking of you from Beijing!
How are you It’s 9:30 p.m. here in Beijing, and I’m sitting in my room, writing this email to you. Outside my window, the city is still bright with lights. I can hear cars passing by and people laughing in the street. It feels strange to think that while I’m getting ready for bed, you’re probably just starting your day. These past few weeks have been wonderful. My Chinese classes are going well, and I can now have simple conversations with local people. I’m also trying new foods every day. Guess what I’ve learned to use chopsticks (筷子) quite well now! Write back when you have time. I’d love to hear what you’re doing at this moment. Are you planning anything special for the weekend I hope you’re taking good care of yourselves. Love always, Yours, Sarah

Good morning, sweetheart! It’s 8:30 a.m. here in Ohio. The sun is coming up, and the garden is full of sunlight. It’s so peaceful—a perfect morning to hear from you. Do you feel happier on sunny days but want to stay in bed on rainy days You are not the only one. Weather affects how we feel and think a lot.
Sunshine is good for our minds. When sunlight touches us, our body makes vitamin D. This vitamin helps our brains release serotonin (释放血清素), making us feel happy, quiet, and focused. That is why many people feel full of energy on sunny days.
Rainy days, however, can do the opposite (相反). When the sky turns gray and there is less light, our brains release less serotonin and more melatonin (褪黑素). Melatonin can make us feel sleepy. So when it rains, we often feel tired or a little down. But here is something interesting: some people love the sound of rain. To them, it feels calm (镇静的) and helps them relax.
Snowy days bring different feelings. Most children can’t wait for the snow. They can build snowmen and have snowball fights happily. But for adults (成年人), heavy snow can cause problems and make travel difficult.
Extreme (极端的) weather can also affect our feelings. When it gets very hot, we may feel terrible and get angry easily. Storms can bring feelings of fear (害怕). And for some, just the sound of strong winds can make them worried.
The good news is that we can learn to manage (管理) our feelings. On dark, rainy days, we can turn on bright lights or do something we enjoy. When the sun is shining, getting outside is a great choice. Once we know how weather affects us, we can take small steps to keep ourselves in a good mood.
28. How does the writer start the passage
A.By telling a story. B.By asking a question. C.By giving an example.
29. Why do people feel full of energy on sunny days
A.Because the sky turns gray and there is less light.
B.Because vitamin D helps the brain release serotonin.
C.Because sunlight helps the brain make more melatonin.
30. What can we infer (推断) from the passage about snowy days
A.They only make people feel happy.
B.They always make travel difficult for everyone.
C.They bring different feelings to children and adults.
31. Which of the following is the right structure of the text

第五节 写作
第一节 任务型阅读
阅读下面短文,按照题目要求用英语回答问题。
Hello, my name is Peter. I always remember one summer day when I started learning to ride a bike when I was eight years old. It was not just about learning a new skill. Even now, I still remember that day.
At that time, my bike had training wheels (辅助轮) on it. They helped me keep my balance. One day in summer vacation, my dad said to me, “Training wheels are for little kids. You need to ride a bike without them now. ”
My dad took off the training wheels. Then I had mixed feelings. I wanted to show that I was old enough to ride a bike, so I told him I was ready. But I also felt very afraid. For a little kid, riding without training wheels was a really big change.
To my surprise, after I started to try, I wasn’t afraid of falling at all. Instead, I felt excited. My dad was very careful. He held the back of my bike seat and ran next to me. He taught me how to pedal (踩踏板) and turn the bike. We practiced near my grandpa’s house for hours. I had some difficult times, and I fell down a few times. But slowly, I became more confident (自信的). Soon I could ride to the street corner without falling.
Now, when I am afraid to try new things, I always think of that day. This experience teaches me an important lesson: things may look scary at first, but they can become great later. It helps my whole life and tells me to welcome changes and believe in myself.

My favorite story is The Old Man and the Mountain.
An old man was tired of walking around the two big mountains in front of his house. He decided to move the mountains away with his family. People laughed at him, but he kept working every day. He said his children and grandchildren would keep doing this work.
This story tells us that nothing is impossible if we keep trying and never give up. We should hold on to our dreams no matter how hard things are.
