The spotted seal The spotted seal is a special animal in China. People call it “the panda of the sea”. On April 16, 2026, two cute seals went back to the sea near Dalian. They grew up in a sea park. Before leaving, they had training for many months. They learned to get fish, keep away from boats and nets, and make themselves strong. When it was time to leave, they knew they had to say goodbye. They swam around the boat first, then swam far away playfully. People in Dalian have helped many seals till now. They help hurt seals and look after small baby seals. Some good seals will go back to the sea. This helps more seals live in the wild and keep the sea safe.
The Przewalski’s horse The Przewalski’s horse is the only real wild horse in the world. On April 22, 2026, 30 healthy Przewalski’s horses went back to the wild in the Kalamaili Mountain Nature Park in Xinjiang. These horses grew up in the animal care center. Before going back to nature, they had a long time of wild practice. The workers cut down the times of giving food, and took away the houses to help them learn to find food and live by themselves in the wild. They also checked the horses’ health carefully to make sure they were strong enough. When the door of the wall opened, the horses jumped happily and ran out quickly to the wide grass field. This is the 19th time that China has put Przewalski’s horses back into the wild. These horses will live and have babies in the nature park, helping the wild group grow bigger and stronger.

Long ago, most Chinese families were large, and the Qian family was no different. Grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins often lived together in one big house. Life was hard back then, and many babies died young. Even so, children in the Qian family had to follow the family rules from a young age. The rules said, “Children must read books, whether they are smart or not.” So the family built free schools for all children, rich or poor. Boys and girls both learned to read and write there. The Qian family also lived by the rule: “If you are rich, help your poor family members.” Rich families gave money and land to help the poor. They built schools for children and granaries (粮仓) for hungry people. In times of famine (饥荒), they gave food to those in need. Parents loved their children very much. They taught them the family rules every day, sang songs and told stories about their ancestors (祖先).
Today, the Qian family is still famous in China. Most families are smaller now, but many still follow the old rules. Children still love reading, and many go to college to become scientists, doctors, teachers or writers. Some famous Qian family members are Qian Xuesen, a great scientist, and Qian Zhongshu, a famous writer. The family still helps others by giving money to build schools and help poor children.
