How does the development of communication technology affect our life
□ It makes communication much more convenient.
□ People spend too much time online and ignore face-to-face talks.
□ It helps people contact friends far away easily.
□ Online words sometimes cannot show our true feelings.
□ It cannot take the place of real communication.
The core of communication has never changed.
Technology has changed the way we communicate, making communication quick and easy. With the help of technology, people around the globe can connect at any time, regardless of distance.
One way technology promotes communication is through social media platforms. We can share pictures, videos and messages. We can have face-to-face communication, even if we are unable to meet physically. Instant messaging services allow for a quick exchange of messages.
The goal of communication has always been to connect with others and build relationships based on shared values. Despite the development of technology and the changed ways in which we communicate, the core of communication has remained unchanged — connecting with others.
Basic human connections make communication meaningful. We are social beings which means we need real-time friendships and companionship. We can get that only through being together in the same space and feeling connected with each other in real time.
Technology can help us communicate in new ways, but it will never be a true replacement for getting together such as sitting at the same table and sharing a good meal, a conversation or a good laugh with friends or family.

List and share
In different times of human history, people have had different ways to connect with each other. List some of them and share your ideas about them.
1. Ancient times
(1) Beacon towers
Ancient people lit fires on towers to send simple military warnings over long distances.
My idea: It worked fast but could only send very limited information. It could not carry detailed messages.
(2) Carrier pigeons
People trained pigeons to carry small letters to faraway places.
My idea: Pigeons could travel across mountains, but bad weather or enemies might stop them. It was not reliable.
(3) Messenger on foot or horseback
Riders travelled along post roads to deliver handwritten letters.
My idea: Messages could be detailed, but it took days or even munication was slow.
2. Early modern period
(1) Handwritten letters 手写信
People wrote letters on paper and sent them by post.
My idea: Letters carried warm, personal feelings. However, waiting for replies usually took a long time.
(2) Telegraph 电报
It used electric signals to send short text messages.
My idea: It was the first fast long-distance communication. But it was expensive and messages had to be very short.
3. Modern times
(1) Fixed telephone
People could talk to each other directly with voices.
My idea: We could hear each other’s voices. But you had to stay beside the phone, and you could not see one another.
(2) Mobile phone & text messages
My idea: People could connect anywhere. Still, we could not see faces at first.
4. Present-day
(1) WeChat /video calls
We can send texts, photos and talk face-to-face through screens.
My idea: Communication becomes super easy and instant. We can keep in touch with friends far away anytime. Yet sometimes online chatting makes face-to-face talks less common.
List and share
Use your imagination and guess what human communication will be like in the future.
In the future, human communication will change greatly with new technology.
We may not need mobile phones anymore. We can send thoughts and feelings directly through brain connection. When we want to talk to someone far away, we can share our ideas, pictures and even our moods instantly.
Virtual reality communication will be popular. When we have a talk, it will feel like we are sitting in the same room, even if we are thousands of kilometres apart. We can see lifelike virtual images of each other.
Besides language translation will become automatic. We will no longer worry about language barriers. We can communicate smoothly with people from all over the world at once.
However, every coin has two sides. If we depend too much on high-tech communication, people may lose the joy of face-to-face talks. Therefore, we should still value real meetings while enjoying convenient technology.
“Thank you” is something that has the power to transform our health, happiness, performance, and success. Research tells us that grateful people are happier and more likely to keep good friendships. Being grateful reduces stress, improves our sleep, and energizes us.
“谢谢你”拥有改变我们健康、幸福感、表现与成就的力量。研究表明,心怀感恩的人更加快乐,也更容易维系良好的友谊。心怀感恩能够缓解压力、改善睡眠、使人充满活力。
Reading
It is not only when someone does you a favour that you should express your gratitude. There are many more occasions where you may try saying thank you.
Say thank you when you’re running late
Being late is bad both for you and for others. It’s stressful for the person who is running late and it’s disrespectful to the person who is waiting.
It might seem strange to thank someone for waiting for you, but in some cases, that’s exactly the correct response. Most people rush in the door and say, “Sorry I’m late.”
The problem is that this response still may not make the other person(s) feel better about your being late. Saying “Thank You” instead means you are expressing your gratitude to the other person(s) for caring enough to wait for you.
For example: “You walk in the door 15 minutes late.”
Instead of saying: “So sorry I’m late. Traffic was awful out there.”
Try saying: “Thank you for your patience.”
When we make a mistake, someone else often pays for it. Our response is to apologize for our failure, but a better way is to praise their patience and support. Thank them for what they did for you.
Say thank you when you’re receiving unfair criticism.
Sometimes criticism isn’t helpful at all. It may even be mean. One of the best ways to deal with it is to just say thank you and move on.
For example: “This might be good advice for beginners, but anyone who knows what they are doing will find this useless.”
Instead of saying: “Well, clearly, I wrote this for beginners. This might be a surprise, but not everything was written with you in mind.”
Try saying: “Thank you for sharing your opinion. I’ll try to improve next time.”
Another example: “Your statement is the worst thing I’ve ever read.”
Instead of saying: “You’re an idiot. Let me tell you why...”
Try saying: “Thank you for the feedback. I still have a lot to learn.”
A simple “thank you” and a show of appreciation can make all the difference. That’s why it’s important not only to practice gratitude yourself but also to help develop a culture of gratitude in your school.
I can talk about the importance of communication: Sometimes friends have misunderstandings. Friendship requires good communication. If we can't communicate well, we likely have difficulty getting along with our friends or partners. Good communication can make teamwork munication can help people succeed in their jobs.
I can talk about some communication tips: Remember other people's names. Smile. Find a proper topic Be a good listener. Be honest. Keep your promises.
I know how to solve problems in the teamwork: It's always better to get things out in the open —talk about a problem, come to a solution, and move on. When there is a problem,it is better to talk it out and find ways to solve it.
