残奥会 —— 力量与精神
每两年，数百万人都会打开电视观看夏季或冬季奥运会。但你知道吗？几周之后，同一座城市还会承办另一项重大体育赛事 —— 残奥会。
残奥会是面向肢体残疾运动员的国际赛事。这个构想最早出自英国医生路德维希 古特曼，诞生于二战结束后不久。古特曼希望改善依靠轮椅生活的士兵的生活，于是在 1948 年奥运会开幕当天，为一小批病人组织了一场小型运动会。这场小型赛事逐步发展，1960 年第一届残奥会正式诞生。当时人们决定，今后残奥会与奥运会同年、同国举办。如今残奥会不仅和奥运会共用举办城市，还会在奥运会结束后不久使用相同场馆开赛。
起初残奥会仅面向轮椅选手。1976 年起，视力障碍及其他肢体残疾运动员也被纳入赛事。一般情况下，运动员只会和同类残疾选手同场竞技。
和奥运会一样，残奥会也诞生了许多伟大冠军。娜塔莉亚 帕蒂卡就是其中一位，她天生缺少右手，既参加奥运会乒乓球比赛，也征战残奥会并斩获多枚金牌。部分盲人运动员赛跑时需要领跑员协助。中国残奥选手刘翠青就在领跑员徐冬林的配合下拿下三枚金牌：2016 年 400 米、4×100 米接力冠军，2021 年再次拿下 400 米金牌。
残奥会的宗旨始终是帮助残障人士强身健体，为他们带去欢乐与人生价值。奥林匹克格言是 “更快、更高、更强 —— 更团结”，残奥会同样践行这句格言，充分展现残障运动员惊人的力量与不屈精神。
