In China, students usually have summer vacations, winter vacations, and public holidays. But now, many schools are adding extra (额外的) days off. This year, the Government Work Report talked about “spring breaks” for the first time.
A headmaster (校长) from Jiangsu said, “Spring breaks give students more time to rest and enjoy our beautiful country with their families. Therefore, they are good for students and help improve family relationships.”
In some areas, students have spent a spring break. If you could have one, what would you like to do Two students share their opinions.
I would have a quiet date with spring to relax. During the break, I would go out and look for signs of spring. I would take pictures and record lovely moments in my notebook. By watching spring grow around me, I might feel I’m growing too. — Shao Jiaxi, 13, Shaanxi
I would go on an outing with my family. I would also go back to my hometown to visit my grandparents. I love eating the fresh vegetables they cook. Finally, I would read my favourite books at home. That would be a nice break. I hope we can have the spring break one day!
— Zhong Xinnuo, 14, Guangdong

I like origami (折纸) a lot. When I feel tired, I usually take out a piece of 39 and fold it the way I like. When I see the paper turn into an artwork in my hands, I feel a sense of achievement. One day, a friend of mine shared her paper rose with me. She was so clever that she made such a pretty work. I couldn’t wait to make one by 40 ! After school, I learned how to make a paper rose through an online video and gave it a try. However, when I compared my rose with my friend’s, I felt it looked ugly and strange. I didn’t want to see it at all, so I 41 it on the ground angrily. At that time, my mum picked it up and said to me, “You should be more patient, since nothing is 42 at the beginning. I believe you can make it better and things will work out well in the end!” Her words inspired me and I watched the video again. I learned more skills about folding. Finally, a beautiful rose was there before my eyes! What I learned from this experience is that instead of giving 43 , we should believe that we can do better. Just as the saying goes, “Fall seven times, stand up eight.”

Growing Up with Good Books
My favourite book is The Little Prince. It tells a story about a little prince travelling among different planets and making friends. On his journey, he meets all kinds of strange people and learns many truths about love and friendship.
From the book, I learn that the most important things can only be seen with the heart. We should value the people around us and treat them with true love.
Good books guide us to grow. I hope everyone can keep reading and find beauty in books.
