Do you think we can only help save the environment outside Actually, we can do many small things at home. Small things from many people can make a big difference. Here are some easy tips.
Turn off the lights Always turn off the lights when you are not using them. It’s wasteful to leave rooms with lights on when no one is there. If millions of people do this every day, the total energy saved could light up a whole town for a month.
Power down the TV when not using it Believe it or not, even when you turn off your TV, it still uses up to 30% of its energy. Simply buy power boards and turn them off to save energy.
Control home’s temperature with windows and doors Keep windows and doors closed in winter to keep heat inside. Open them in summer to let air in. This fresh air keeps you cool and helps you save money on the air conditioner (空调).
Recycle (回收利用) when you can Separate your rubbish into paper, metal, glass, and food waste. Even if your city doesn’t tell you to do it, you can start at home. If we don’t do that, most of it will be put in the ground or be burned.
Stay away from single-use items Stop using paper plates, cups, and paper towels. Use reusable cloths and dishes instead. They last longer and help keep the environment clean.
In short, every small step helps. By making these simple changes at home, you can protect the environment and make the world a better place for everyone.

My name is Lisa. Last month, our school called for volunteers to take care of the school library corner, and I signed up for it. My main job included sorting out books, putting them back properly, and helping students find the books they needed.
One day, I met a seventh grader Beth in the library corner. She looked worried. I walked over and asked her what was wrong. Beth explained that she needed a storybook for her English speech but couldn’t find it anywhere, and she was worried about finishing her speech on time.
I told her not to worry and asked for details about the book. Beth said it was a friendship-focused storybook with a blue cover. So I took her to the storybook area and helped her search carefully. After a few minutes, we succeeded in finding the book. Beth’s eyes lit up with joy, and she thanked me repeatedly.
From then on, Beth often came to the library corner. Sometimes she helped me sort out books, and sometimes we read together. Later, she told me happily that the book I found for her had helped her win in the competition (比赛). I felt glad to have helped her.

AI smart fridges are becoming very common in Chinese homes. These fridges have cameras inside. When you put food in or take it out, the cameras take pictures. The fridge’s AI system can know what the food is—for example, it can see the difference between an apple and a tomato.
With the food you have, the fridge can tell you what to cook each day. If you have eggs, tomatoes, and cheese, it might suggest making cooked eggs with cheese. When there is no food in the fridge, it can order some online by itself from a supermarket. This saves you a trip to the store.
Some AI fridges can talk to smart ovens. Imagine you are on your way home from school. The fridge knows you have a very cold pizza inside. It can send a message to the oven to start heating up, so the pizza is ready when you arrive.
Users say these fridges help save time and cut down food waste. You will not forget the vegetables that are at the back of the fridge anymore. The fridge can even send a message to your phone: “Your milk will go bad tomorrow.”
According to a new report, about 35% of newly improved homes in China now have an AI fridge. With the improvement of technology, more families will enjoy this smart kitchen helper.

Growing Up with Classmates
I still remember the English speech competition last term. I was too nervous and wanted to give up. My deskmate noticed my worry and spent three days practicing with me after class. She corrected my pronunciation and cheered me up all the time.
With her help, I calmed down and tried my best. Finally, I got a good prize. This experience teaches me that progress comes from support. We grow better together when we help each other.
