The best restaurants in London all have great food, and offer a fantastic experience. And all at the right price. This doesn’t necessarily mean cheap, but definitely does mean value for money.
Kiln
Price: Mid-range
When to go: When your funds are running low.
What to have: The superbly tender, spiced beef is a true crowd-pleaser.
Kiln is a continuation of the Thai barbecue theme. Its simple, stripped-back (精简) look work perfectly with the style of cooking. Quality, Brit-sourced meat and fish are grilled, and served with the flavor-packed sauces typical of rural Thailand.
Hoppers
Price: Affordable
When to go: When you want to say to your mouth, “you SHALL go to the ball!”
What to have: The Indian bread.
Hoppers is exclusively Sri Lankan. The small room is always full, but it’s more than worth the wait. If small plates, full flavors and unapologetic spicing are your bag, Hoppers will get your pulse and your taste buds (味蕾) racing.
Bright
Price: Mid-range
When to go: When you’re bored of all other food.
What to have: Look out for the likes of homemade pizza or pasta.
Eating at Bright is a little like eating in a glass box, which maybe you don’t expect to like, but that’s a good thing: There is less to take your attention away from the food. The compact menu changes daily, but is generally a mix of modernish small plates.
Social Eating House
Price: Blowout
When to go: When you want a high-priced menu without the formality.
What to have: Skillful cocktails in style.
Social Eating House’s dark dining room, with its mirrored ceiling and modern artworks, feels cool and informal, while the menu delivers dishes that are at once highly varied, accessible and above all delicious.

Luke Grenfel-Shaw had a rare form of cancer. It started as a pain in his shoulder and the tumour spread to his lungs, making it stage four. The Oxford graduate was teaching English in Siberia when he suffered a shoulder pain and saw the school nurse. It was her reaction to a lump on his back that sent him back home to Bristol. “I was 24 years old. I had done an ultramarathon,” Luke says. “48 hours later, I was back in hospital in the UK.” On 19 June, 2018, doctors told Luke that he had cancer.
“I had kind of worked out that it was cancer, but what kind of blew me away was the fact that it was stage four cancer,” says Luke. “That day, my life felt like it had disintegrated. My life had been comfortable and conventional. I had worked hard and got rewards in terms of education, jobs, things like that. That was all taken away.” On the day of his diagnosis, Luke had one clear thought in his mind that he wanted to cycle around the world. It was something he had always hoped to do, but the cancer news made him realize that he couldn’t put it off.
“I realized that the future had to become now,” Luke explains. He decided to cycle from Bristol to Beijing — more than 5,000 miles — on a tandem bike, because he wanted to bring people along to share the experience with him. Luke will not only be joined by family and friends for certain legs of his trip, but also by other young people who are living with cancer. “This trip is something I’m going to enjoy,” says Luke. “It’s going to be the richest and most fulfilling experience that I can have.”
4. What made Luke realize the potential threat of the illness
A.A lump on his back.
B.The pain on his shoulder.
C.The school nurse’s reaction.
D.The Oxford graduate’s warning.
5. The underlined word “disintegrated” in Paragraph 2 means “________”.
A.changed B.broken C.disappointed D.protested
6. What can we learn from the passage
A.Luke intended to change his future life by cycling.
B.Luke planned to challenge the cancer with young men.
C.Luke wanted to end his life during the cycling trip.
D.Luke expected to challenge the tough journey.

Eat more when you are stressed You’re not alone. More than a third of the participants in a survey said they change their diets during stressful times.
Many of us are quick to turn to either sugary foods or highly refined carbohydrates (碳水化合物) when the stress hits. “There can be a bit of a vicious cycle,” says David Ludwig, a professor at Harvard University. “When we feel stressed, we seek foods that are going to comfort us immediately, but often those foods lead to surges and crashes in hormones and blood sugar that increase our new stresses”.
So, if eating lots of refined carbohydrates and sugar may worsen our responses to stress, are there other types of food that make us more resilient Researcher Joe Hibbeln believes the answer is yes. He has spent the past two decades researching links between the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and emotional health. He also points to clinical trials that have found that omega-3 fatty acids may help control depressive symptoms. And a study of schoolchildren in England linked omega-3 fatty acids to more pro-social behavior.
Drew Ramsey, a psychiatrist at Columbia University, says a nutrient-rich diet is best for beating stress. He points to his favorite breakfast: scrambled eggs (炒鸡蛋) mixed with the greens and topped with pumpkin seeds. With this meal, you are covering all your bases, Ramsey says. The eggs are a good source of B vitamins and protein, which can be more satisfactory than a carbohydrates-based breakfast. The greens are incredibly nutrient-dense, and are a good source of vitamin A, vitamin K and potassium. And the pumpkin seeds are a good source of magnesium, which is thought to play a role in fighting off anxiety — and zinc, which may help boost the immune system.
The bottom line The foods we choose can’t magic away stress. But Ramsey says he believes “There is a very, very strong connection between food and mood”.
7. What does David Ludwig say about the foods we seek when stressed
A.They are full of nutrients.
B.They help get rid of stress.
C.They have long-term benefits.
D.They provide instant comfort.
8. What does Joe Hibbeln’s research focus on
A.What depressive behaviors schoolchildren have.
B.Why lots of refined foods release people’s anxiety.
C.Whether omega-3 fatty acids are linked to emotional health.
D.How omega-3 fatty acids worsen people’s responses to stress.
9. Why does Ramsey introduce his favourite breakfast
A.To attach importance to all kinds of vitamins.
B.To illustrate his ways of beating hunger.
C.To show the emotional support from a diet.
D.To give examples of making delicious breakfast.
10. Which of the following might be the best title for the text
A.More Food, More Comfort.
B.Better Diet, Better Mood.
C.Regular Eating, Reduced Stress.
D.Authentic recipe, Excellent Fitness.

Music is something I could never live without. Without music, I was shy, very quiet and the type of person that would only talk when asked to. As a little kid, I would hear my parents sing me to sleep and I loved to sing when I grew up. Music allowed me to express myself. It made me happy. There was nothing that could keep me away from my passion, until high school.
Every ninth grader who wanted to be in the show choir (歌舞合唱团) (dancing and singing) during high school could audition (试镜) for the program. On the day the audition was held, I waited with the other students. We were called in one by one.
It was my turn to enter the room. I walked in. I was a little nervous, and my throat was dry. The room was small with a piano in the middle of it. The singing audition went like this, introduction, a song of our choice and matching a note (调) the director played on the piano.
Before I knew it, the audition was over. I hit every note in the song. I took a breath of relief. A week later, there was a dance audition for the show choir. I felt that I had done an amazing job, changing my facial expressions to match the turns. Weeks passed and the list of who had made it into the show choir was posted.
“Have you seen the list I got in!” one of my friends said.
“No,” I replied looking at the web page for the results. I moved the page down and found my name.
“Angelica H. — alternate (替补)”
An alternate Was my audition that bad My movements were graceful. Maybe it was the singing. Did I not hit the right notes I thought to myself. After I saw this, my confidence disappeared. I had no intention of joining the show choir. I was torn from something that I thought made me different from others.
A year passed, I realized that it was not smart of me to give up on what I loved.

演讲稿范文
Dear teachers and students,
Today I want to express my gratitude to my parents. They always stand by me whenever I meet difficulties. They offer endless love and support without asking for any reward.
To show my thanks, I will cherish every moment with them. I plan to help with housework in my spare time and communicate with them patiently. Most importantly, I will spare no effort to study hard to live up to their expectations.
Thank you!
读后续写范文
I was at a restaurant with my family, which had a karaoke machine. My parents encouraged me to have a try. At first, I hesitated, afraid of singing in front of strangers. But deep inside, my love for music pushed me forward. I picked my favourite song and began to sing. As the melody flowed out, all my anxiety faded away. I lost myself in music and enjoyed every second. Many customers turned to listen and gave me warm applause after I finished.
I realized not getting into the program did not mean that I had to give up all hope. Show choir was just one platform to perform music. Music belonged to everyone, not only those in the choir. From then on, I kept practising singing every day. I shared songs online and took part in various school singing activities. I found that as long as I stuck to my passion, music would always bring me warmth and joy.
