Once upon a Time
Once upon a time, there lived a kind and hard-working girl in a small village. She had no parents and lived alone. Though life was hard for her, she always smiled and tried her best to be kind to everyone around her. She believed that kindness would always bring warmth and good luck.
Every morning, the girl went for a walk in the forest. She picked up dry branches for fire and watered the little wild flowers along the road. One day, she found a weak little bird on the ground. It hurt its wing and could not fly. The kind girl felt sorry for it. She took it home gently, looked after it carefully and fed it with fresh fruit every day.
After one week, the little bird got well. Before it flew away, it thanked the girl again and again. It promised to bring her a surprise someday. The girl smiled and did not ask for anything. She was just happy to help the little animal.
Several days later, something magical happened. When the girl got up in the morning, she found a box of shining gifts on her table. There was a short note on it: “For your kindness and warm heart.” At that moment, the girl knew the little bird kept its promise. She felt so happy and moved.
This simple story tells us a great lesson. Kindness is never useless. When we help others with sincerity, we will surely get warmth and surprise in return. Always be kind, even to the smallest living things around us.
