The red-crowned crane is one of the most famous rare birds in China. It is also a symbol of good luck and long life in Chinese culture.
Red-crowned cranes are white with black necks and wings. They have a bright red patch on the top of their heads, which is how they got their name. An adult red-crowned crane can grow up to 1.5 metres tall, with a wingspan of over 2 metres.
These birds live in wetlands and near rivers. They feed on fish, insects and plants. Every winter, many red-crowned cranes fly from northern China to warmer places in the south, like Yancheng in Jiangsu Province. Yancheng Wetland is an important home for these birds in winter.
However, red-crowned cranes are in danger now. People are turning wetlands into farms and cities, so the birds are losing their homes. Also, water pollution makes it hard for them to find clean food. To protect these beautiful birds, China has built many nature reserves. Scientists are also working hard to help the cranes have more babies. We all hope that more and more red-crowned cranes will fly in the sky in the future.

Many people love travelling, but not everyone knows how to travel in a green way. Green travel is good for both the environment and our health. Here are some tips for you.
First, choose proper traffic tools. If you travel to a nearby place, try walking or riding a bike. It is not only good for the environment but also helps you take exercise. For longer trips, take trains or buses instead of planes. Planes make much more air pollution.
Second, use reusable things during the trip. Take your own water bottle and cloth bag with you. Don’t use plastic bottles or bags. They are bad for the environment. Also, try to save water and electricity when you stay in hotels. Turn off the lights and taps when you don’t use them.
Third, protect the places you visit. Don’t draw or write on the walls of old buildings. Don’t throw rubbish everywhere. If you see rubbish on the ground, you can pick it up and throw it into the bin. We should keep the beautiful places clean for other visitors.
