Good morning, everyone! I'm Li Jia from the Green World Club. We are a student club that cares about the environment around our school.
Our club holds a tree planting day every September. We go to the hill behind our town and plant young trees to stop the soil from being washed away by rain. We know that trees can take in carbon dioxide and clean the air, so we keep doing this every year. In the past five years, we have planted over one thousand trees there.
Besides tree planting, we also teach students how to sort rubbish at school and save energy in the classroom. We also grow organic vegetables in our school garden to learn about green farming.

Our community will start a new waste sorting program next Monday. It will begin on October 15th. Workers will put new color-coded rubbish bins at every building entrance tomorrow. There will be four different colors for different kinds of waste. Blue bins are for paper and glass that can be recycled. Green bins are just for organic food waste, which can be turned into compost later. Black bins are for general waste that cannot be recycled. Red bins are for harmful waste like batteries.
Many people do not know how to sort waste correctly, so we will hold a free public class this Saturday. A college environment class teacher will come to teach us the sorting rules. If you are free, please come to the community hall to join us.
