IV. 阅读理解(共两节,满分45分)
第一节 阅读下面A、B、C、D四篇短文,根据短文内容,从题中所给A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳答案。
A
There are a number of animals that glow (发光) in some way — including several kinds of insects and fish. Some kinds of mushrooms (蘑菇) glow, too. But plants don’t glow. Now, scientists are working to change that and trying to make plants glow.
When a living thing gives off a glow, it’s called bioluminescence (生物发光). Fireflies are a well-known example of bioluminescence. Though less well-known, many mushrooms are also bioluminescent.
Fireflies and other bioluminescent creatures light up thanks to chemicals inside their bodies. These chemicals are known as luciferins (荧光素). Plants don’t naturally have luciferins, so there are no naturally bioluminescent plants. But that hasn’t stopped scientists from trying to create them.
In the past, scientists have created glowing plants by adding DNA from the glowing bacteria (细菌). But the glowing effect was weak, probably because of the huge differences between simple bacteria and plants. Scientists have also created glowing plants by adding luciferins to plants. But it only works as long as the chemicals last. In 2017, a team at MIT was able to cause plants to glow for about four hours.
Now, researchers have come up with a new method of creating glowing plants which lasts as long as the plant is alive. Though mushrooms and plants grow very differently, the scientists focused on an acid (酸) that is found in both of them. By adding certain parts of the DNA from glowing mushrooms to plants, the scientists were able to create plants that could make their own luciferins using this acid.
The glowing came from all parts of the plant. The scientists report that the greenish light was about 10 times brighter than in earlier glowing plants. The glow was strong enough to be easily recorded with a common camera, but it didn’t influence the health of the plants.
46.Which writing method is used in paragraph 2

A.Their light was too weak. B.The chemicals ran out quickly.
C.They only glowed for four hours. D.They were bad for plants’ health.
49.What’s the key of the new glowing plant technology in paragraph 5
A.Taking luciferins directly from fireflies.
B.Feeding plants with special chemicals.
C.Mixing DNA of fireflies and mushrooms together.
D.Using a shared acid to let plants make luciferins.
50.What is the main idea of the text

Chinese calligraphy is called “the art of the brush”. It has a very long history and dates back thousands of years. To learn calligraphy well, people need three basic things: a brush, ink and paper.
The brush tip plays an important role. Writers can make thin lines or thick strokes by changing how they hold the brush. Bottled ink is convenient for beginners. Some experienced artists like to grind ink themselves. Every single stroke influences the whole character. There is no chance to change easily after writing.
Many teenagers do not know why we should learn calligraphy. First, it helps us slow down and stay calm. When we practise writing carefully, we can forget our pressure from school. Second, it lets us learn about traditional Chinese culture. Many ancient calligraphy works show the history of our country.
You will not become good at it in several weeks. It needs long-term practice. Some students stop practising soon because they cannot see quick progress. However, as long as you keep trying, your writing will become better little by little.
Now many museums show famous calligraphy works. If you have time, you can visit these shows. Watching great works up close can give you new ideas. Calligraphy is not only handwriting. It is a special art form that carries Chinese culture.

The world’s tallest bridge, Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou province, opened to traffic on September 28th, turning what was once a two-hour drive into a trip of only two minutes. It’s a symbol of China’s progress in improving infrastructure (基础设施).
Rising 625 meters above the Beipan River, the 1,420-meter-long bridge is a key project of a highway connecting Liuzhi with Anlong. The new highway winds through one of China’s most mountainous provinces, where geography has long made traveling a challenge.
Building at such a height is a big challenge. The engineering team used a series of new technologies. First, they introduced an intelligent system (智能系统) guided by Beidou Navigation Satellite System. It helped to put steel trusses in correct places. Besides, they used VR technology to assemble (组装) 93 parts in 73 days. To fight strong winds (over 100 km/h), they also added a special plate, which cut down wind force by 30%.

Take a moment to notice how your body feels right now. Is your breathing fast or slow Is your mind busy with thoughts, or focused on what you’re reading These are signals from your body and brain that show how you’re feeling.
Where do feelings come from 66 Just thinking about having to deal with strong emotions can be enough to make some people feel uneasy! However, did you know that feelings are not just abstract ideas

You might have seen the movie Inside Out 2. In it, the characters in Riley’s brain represent her core emotions. 69 We see joy, fear, and sadness appear when Riley starts high school and worries about losing her friends.

56.What does “the art of the brush” refer to in the passage
A.Chinese painting
B.Chinese calligraphy

Besides being an engineering wonder, the bridge is also improving local economy (经济). For example, Huajiang Village, right under the bridge, was once a quiet and ancient place, but is now filled with many visitors. “Thanks to the amazing upward view of the bridge, visitor numbers have increased.” said Zhang Delin, Party secretary of Pingjie Township. The local government is also planning amazing activities like bungee jumping to bring more income to the area.
