When I was in Grade 6, my father gave me a copy of Robinson Crusoe (鲁宾逊漂流记) as my 12th birthday gift. At first, I didn’t want to read it because I thought it was too thick and would be boring. But my dad told me it was a classic work and I would fall in love with it once I started.
I decided to give it a try. After reading the first few pages, I couldn’t put it down. I was totally attracted by Robinson’s adventures on the lonely island. I admired how he built a wooden house, grew corn and made simple tools all by himself to survive. Every night after finishing my homework, I would read a few chapters (章节). It took me about two weeks to finish the whole book.
After reading it, I learned a valuable lesson: no matter how hard the situation is, we should never give up easily. I also developed a strong interest in classic novels. Now, Robinson Crusoe is still my favorite book. I often read it again when I feel upset or face difficulties.

A.Because he thought it was too thick and boring.
B.Because he didn’t like his father’s choice.
C.Because he had too much homework to do.
D.Because he hated adventure stories.
17.How long did it take the writer to finish reading Robinson Crusoe
A.About one week. B.About two weeks C.About three weeks. D.About a month.
18.What lesson did the writer learn from the book
A.We should learn to live on an island.
B.We should give up when things get hard.
C.We should never give up no matter how difficult the situation is.
D.We should read more books in our free time.
【答案】16.A 17.B 18.C
第一段写明作者最初不想读这本书的原因:“At first, I didn’t want to read it because I thought it was too thick and would be boring”,这直接说明作者觉得这本书太厚,还会很无聊。
17.第二段末尾交代阅读时长:“It took me about two weeks to finish the whole book”,由此可知作者花了大约两周读完《鲁宾逊漂流记》。
18.第三段点明作者从书中学到的道理:“no matter how hard the situation is, we should never give up easily”,意思是无论处境多么艰难,我们都绝不应该轻易放弃。

The first time Leo brought his sketchbook (素描本) to the lunch table, nobody said anything. The second time, Jake looked over and said, “You draw That’s kind of strange.” A few others laughed. Leo closed his sketchbook and didn’t bring it again.
Before moving to this school, Leo had drawn every single day. He drew birds on bus tickets, clouds on the back of homework sheets, faces of people he didn’t know on the underground. Drawing was simply how he made sense of the world. But now, every time he thought about taking out his pencil, he heard Jake’s voice in his head.
Weeks passed. Leo started spending lunches looking at his phone like everyone else. He joined the after-school basketball group, even though he was terrible at it. He laughed at jokes he didn’t find funny. Slowly, he stopped feeling like himself.
One afternoon, his art teacher, Ms Fong, kept him back after class. She placed one of his old drawings on the desk—a sketch of the school dining hall, full of small, funny things. “Did you stop ” she asked quietly. Leo didn’t answer. “Someone laughed,” she said. She already knew.
Ms Fong didn’t give a long speech. She simply said, “The world doesn’t need another person looking at their phone. It needs people who see things differently. ”
That evening, Leo opened his sketchbook for the first time in weeks. His hand felt strange holding the pencil. But he drew anyway—a small, imperfect drawing of his bedroom window. It wasn’t his best work. But it was his.
The next day, he brought the sketchbook back to the lunch table.
19.Why did Leo stop bringing his sketchbook to the lunch table
A.He lost interest in drawing. B.His teacher asked him to stop.
C.He was laughed at by classmates. D.He forgot to bring it to school.
20.How did Leo change according to Paragraph 3
A.He became more confident. B.He stopped being himself.
C.He enjoyed different hobbies. D.He made new friends.
21.What did Ms Fong mean by the underlined sentences
A.Being different is valuable. B.Everyone should learn to draw well.
C.Leo should follow others. D.Using phones at school is not allowed.
22.What is the text mainly about
A.Making friends at a new school. B.A boy’s story of losing and finding himself.
C.The importance of teenagers’ growth. D.A teacher’s help to her student.
【答案】19.C 20.B 21.A 22.B
21.画线句“The world doesn’t need another person looking at their phone. It needs people who see things differently.”,老师想告诉Leo:拥有与众不同的视角、保持独特是珍贵且有价值的。

D
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved reading crime and detective (侦探) novels, so I guess it was pretty normal that I started writing them when I was older. However, my family is very big on having a traditional job and so when I said that I wanted to go to college and study writing, my parents told me that I couldn’t. They told me that I had to study for a degree (学位) to get a job that is not as risky as writing. I could study journalism (新闻专业), but I didn’t want to lose interest in writing because it would be everyday work, not for fun. I thought that teaching was a pretty good compromise (妥协), especially because of the long holidays. By the time I was twenty-five, I’d already finished two novels and had an agent.
To be honest, I never wanted to hide that I was a crime writer. My friends have always known. One reason most people don’t know is that my agent told me that my name “Hazel” sounded like a romance (浪漫) writer for older women. She suggested “Brooke Lane” as my pen name and I agreed. I nearly forgot about it until I walked into school one day and saw one of my workmates reading my novel. I asked her some questions about it, and she didn’t know that I wrote it; she even offered to lend it to me after she finished! Of course, sometimes I wonder what my students will think if they know that their teacher writes about murders and dead bodies at home on weekends. But I think my parents probably helped me: my teaching job keeps me in touch with the real world.
27.The underlined phrase “is very big on” in the passage probably means ________.
A.is very interested in B.doesn’t care much about
C.knows nothing about D.is not happy with
28.Why did Hazel choose to be a teacher
A.She was interested in teaching students. B.It was a compromise with her parents.
C.Her agent advised her to take the job. D.She couldn’t find a job as a writer.
29.How did the writer feel when her workmate read her novel
A.Angry. B.Surprised. C.Sad. D.Bored.
30.What does Hazel want to tell us through her experience
A.It’s dangerous to be a crime writer.
B.We should follow our parents’ advice.
C.We can find a balance between dreams and real world.
D.Teaching is the best job for writers.
【答案】27.A 28.B 29.B 30.C
划线词所在的句子提到“However, my family is very big on having a traditional job and so when I said that I wanted to go to college and study writing, my parents told me that I couldn’t”,说明家人非常看重传统工作,反对她从事写作,因此is very big on意为“非常重视”或“非常喜欢”。
28.第一段提到“I thought that teaching was a pretty good compromise”,说明作者父母反对她专职写作,她选择教书是和父母的妥协。
29.第二段提到“I nearly forgot about it until I walked into school one day and saw one of my workmates reading my novel…she didn’t know that I wrote it”,说明作者没想到同事在读她写的小说且不知道作者是她,这种巧合的情景通常让人感到惊讶(Surprised),而非生气、悲伤或无聊。

根据“up from the back seat”及突发情境,可知歹徒突然出现。
根据“a gun to Mr. Smith’s head”,hold a gun to one’s head“拿枪抵住某人头部”是固定搭配,是劫持场景常用表达。
根据上文“Drive me to Paris!”

根据“each crossing”,drive through crossings表示“驾车穿过路口”。for/over/towards不符合穿过路口的搭配。

根据“of the road”,应选用side,on the wrong side of the road表示逆向行驶,在道路错误一侧行驶。
根据“Again...not working”,可知旧计划失败,需新计划;应选用new,try a new plan“尝试新计划”,逻辑通顺。
根据“The car hit a police motorbike down”、“Mr. Smith shouted”及“grab the man’s gun”,可知当时场景声音嘈杂,选用noise“喧闹声、嘈杂声响”;sound泛指一切声音,不如noise符合语境。
