第三部分:阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,共30分)
A
At dinnertime, if I’m anywhere near my favourite restaurant, there’s not a chance you can talk me into going somewhere else—I want to eat at China Fun. Actually, I have been eating at this restaurant for 17 years.
Don’t get me wrong, trying new things is great, and I love exploring. But the pressure to always keep trying new things ignores the satisfaction of finding our loves and keeping on loving them. That’s why I dislike popup restaurants. I’d much rather invest my time and money in a place that will still be here next month, working my way through the menu to find my favourite dishes, and figuring out which is the best table. In a chaotic world, being a regular makes me feel that there are always places where things stay the same.
In my mental map of the city, I mark all my favourites—cute bookshops, hidden gardens, and the hotdog stand that’s open only at weekends. To be a regular is to let a place become a character in your life. The act of returning builds connection, and a sense of being at home as you settle in and share a nod with the waiter before he asks if you’ll be having the usual.
Some things just get better the more you do them. While relaxing weekends offer the promise of finding country paths for a wander, I would prefer revisiting a beloved walking route as the seasons turn, noticing the subtle(微妙的)changes in the same place. I’ve walked along the Thames a hundred times, but the banks look different each time as the tides move to reveal or conceal(隐藏). It feels like spending time with a friend. The river is alive, and each time we meet, we grow closer.
I discovered a little local café recently. After several visits, Kirsty, the resident café cat, has finally started acknowledging my presence. The other repeat customers have also started nodding at me. They were here first and this is their café. Now they seem to be saying,“Have a seat, stay a while, and come back soon.”
51.What does the author’s restaurant preference show
A. He is a creature of habit.
B. He is strictly selfdisciplined.
C. He loves exploring new things.
D. He favours Asian cuisine most.
52.What does the underlined word “character” in paragraph 3 refer to
A. Reward
B. Souvenir
C. Symbol
D. Companion
53.How does the author find the walking route along the Thames
A. Crowded but comforting.
B. Familiar but refreshing.
C. Winding but approachable.
D. Exhausting but adventurous.
54.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A. The café only welcomes regular local visitors.
B. The author feels accepted as a regular in the café.
C. Kirsty the cat is unfriendly to new customers.
D. The café is too small to hold more people.
55.What message does this text mainly convey
A. Satisfaction exists in the present.
B. Shared experiences build bonds.
C. Possibilities hide in the unknown.
D. Repeat visits deepen appreciation.
B
For centuries, plants have been considered passive organisms, silently enduring their environment. However, recent research is revealing a world of hidden activity Plants, it seems, are not only aware of their surroundings but are also communicating with each other in sophisticated ways, creating what scientists are beginning to call a “wood wide web”.
The primary medium for this communication is a vast, underground network of mycorrhizal fungi(菌根真菌). These fungi form symbiotic(共生的)relationships with plant roots, exchanging nutrients for sugars. But they do more than just trade: they act as information superhighways. When a plant is attacked by pests, it releases chemical signals into its roots. These signals are picked up by the fungi and transmitted to neighboring plants, which then preemptively(先发制人地)boost their own chemical defenses. This early warning system allows an entire community of plants to prepare for an imminent threat.
Beyond defense, this network facilitates cooperation. Studies have shown that older, larger “mother trees” can recognize and favor their own seedlings(幼苗)through the fungal network, sending them extra nutrients to help them grow in the shaded understory(林下叶层). This challenges the longheld Darwinian view of plants engaged solely in a merciless competition for light and resources, suggesting a level of kin(亲缘的)recognition and altruism(利他主义)previously thought impossible in the plant kingdom.
The implications are profound. This discovery forces us to reconsider the very definition of intelligence and communication. Plants lack a central nervous system, yet they exhibit complex behaviors: sensing, learning, remembering, and problemsolving. They can distinguish between self and nonself, kin and stranger. Some researchers argue that the fungal network itself functions as a kind of distributed intelligence for the forest.
Understanding this “plant intelligence” could revolutionize fields from agriculture to ecology. Instead of viewing crops as isolated individuals, we might learn to foster their natural communication networks to enhance resilience without pesticides. The silent, green world around us is humming with conversations we are only just beginning to decode.
56.What is the main function of the “wood wide web” mentioned in the passage
A. To mainly serve as a system for exchanging nutrients and water.
B. To coordinate collective defense behaviors among plants.
C. To act as a communication network among plants.
D. To provide physical support for seedlings.
57.According to paragraph 2, how do plants primarily use the fungal network when threatened
A. By sending warning signals to neighboring plants.
B. By physically moving their roots away from danger.
C. By attracting beneficial insects to kill the pests.
D. By absorbing defensive chemicals from the fungi.
58.The example of “mother trees” helping their seedlings is used to illustrate that plants can____.
A. engage in merciless competition
B. display parental care and cooperation
C. live independently without external help
D. change their growth pattern according to light
59.What is the significant challenge posed by the discovery of plant communication
A. It proves Darwin's theory of evolution is wrong.
B. It suggests fungi are more intelligent than plants.
C. It may redefine concepts like the survival rules of plants.
D. It indicates all plant behaviors are controlled by fungi.
60.What is a potential application of this research, as suggested in the last paragraph
A. Creating new species of plants through genetic engineering.
B. Developing stronger pesticides to protect individual plants.
C. Using fungi to replace traditional fertilizers entirely.
D. Improving crop health by enhancing their natural networks.
C
The 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, one of the mostwatched television events globally, featured a groundbreaking performance titled “Wu BOT” that seamlessly blended traditional Chinese kung fu with cuttingedge robotics technology. This captivating show, a collaboration between Unitree Technology and the renowned Tagou Martial Arts School, quickly became the talk of the nation and a symbol of China’s rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics.

第二节 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
The old man walked slowly into the restaurant. His poor jacket, patched trousers, and wornout shoes made him stand out from the usual Saturday morning breakfast crowd. Unforgettable were his pale blue eyes that sparkled like diamonds, large rosy cheeks, and thin lips held in a steady smile.
With the help of his trusty cane, he walked toward a table by the window. A young waitress named Mary watched him and ran over to him, saying, “Here, Sir. Let me give you a hand with that chair.” Without a word, he smiled and nodded a thank you. She pulled the chair away from the table. Steadying him with one arm, she helped him move in front of the chair, and get comfortably seated. Then she pushed the table up close to him, and leaned his cane against the table where he could reach it.
In a soft, clear voice he said, “Thank you, Miss.”
“You are welcome, Sir.” She replied. “My name is Mary. I’ll be back in a moment. If you need anything, just wave at me!”
After he had finished a hearty meal of pancakes, bacon, and hot lemon tea, Mary brought him the change, helping him up from his chair and out from behind the table. She handed him his cane, and walked with him to the front door. Holding the door open for him, she said, “Come back and see us, Sir!”
He nodded a thank you and said softly with a smile, “You are very kind!” When Mary went to clean his table, she was shocked. Under his plate she found a business card and a note written on the napkin, under which was a $100 bill. The note on the napkin read, “Dear Mary, I respect very much, and you respect yourself, too. It shows by the way you treat others. You have found the secret of happiness. Your kind gestures will shine through those who meet you.”
The man she had served was the owner of the restaurant. This was the first time that she, or any of his employees, had seen him in person.
