I went to a museum in Shanghai last July. I saw a great robot there. He had a hand and an eye. He could work for 24 hours a day. He didn’t need to eat, drink or sleep. He worked as a traditional Chinese doctor. He could know if people had health problems in a short time. He could tell you when you should go to bed and what you should eat. I think, in the future, there will be more robot volunteers. They can help people in many ways, such as showing the right ways, carrying things for old people, and telling stories to blind children.

24. rushed into
25. put up a notice
故填put;up;a;notice。
26. lifts my spirit
故填lifts;my;spirit。
27. from side to side
故填from;side;to;side。
28.turns into
故填turns;into。
29. while was listening

30. was thick with
故填was;thick;with。
31. was crowded with
be crowded with是固定短语,意为“挤满”。 故填was;crowded;with。
32. A/After moment/a later/while
故填A;moment;later或After;a;while。
33.earthquake

look forward to是固定短语,意为“期盼、盼望”,介词to符合该固定搭配要求,for、at、with均无法构成该正确短语。
and“和”、so“所以”、or“或者”均不符。

“remind sb. to do sth.”

There are lots of natural disasters every year. 44
Typhoons (台风) are some of the worst storms, usually around the Pacific Ocean (太平洋) and the South China Sea. Most happen in July, August and September.
How does a typhoon happen When lots of sea water gets hot in the summer sun, it evaporates (蒸发) into the air. This makes the air hotter. 45 Then cooler air around it rushes in. It fills the space that is left. After the air gets warmer, it starts to move quickly, making wind. The wind goes in circles and it keeps moving higher in the sky. The warmer the air gets, the quicker the wind moves. And when wind moves faster than 30 metres a second, a typhoon begins.
A typhoon has two parts. One is called the “eye”. 46 The other part is the wall of clouds around the eye. Here are the strongest winds and hardest rains.
Typhoons are very dangerous. In November in 2013, Typhoon Haiyan killed 6,000 people in Philippines. 47

The storm killed one person and made several persons get hurt. Altogether over two hundred people were homeless after the storm.
A farmer, Mr. Tan, said that the storm began early in the morning and lasted over an hour.
“I was eating with my wife and children when we heard a loud noise,” he said. “A few minutes later, our house fell down on top of us. We tried our best to climb out but then I saw that one of my children was missing. I went back inside and found him, safe but very frightened.”
Mrs. Smith said that her husband had just left for work when she felt that her house was moving. She ran outside at once with her children. “There was no time to take anything,” she said. “A few minutes later, the roof came down.”

Chinese calligraphy is an important part of traditional Chinese culture. Calligraphy started in China and spread to other parts of Asia with Chinese culture. It has a history of 4,000 to 5,000 years. Calligraphy is the art of writing Chinese characters (汉字) and rules of writing with a brush. When you practice calligraphy, it is important to pay attention to the changes of the strokes (笔画) and the spaces between characters.
There are many famous calligraphers in history, such as Wang Xizhi and Yan Zhenqing. Different calligraphy works can show different calligraphers’ feelings and personalities. Today, they can be seen on the walls of offices, shops, hotels and many other places.
“If I live in China, I will become a calligrapher rather than a painter for sure,” the world-famous master of art, Picasso said. He fell in love with Chinese calligraphy as soon as he saw Zhang Daqian’s works.
The tool for practicing calligraphy is calligraphy brushes. They are usually made from the hair of different animals. Practicing calligraphy takes a lot of time and many people take lessons to learn it. During the lessons, they can learn how to write different strokes of Chinese characters. If you’re interested in it, you may start practicing with a teacher right away.
