In the past, people thought only mammals (哺乳动物) had milk for their babies. But now scientists have found one kind of spider can also nurse (哺育) its babies.
Baby spiders eat almost all kinds of food, such as small worms and pollen. But one kind of jumping spider from Southeast Asia is quite different. Its children grow very fast and are in bad need of food. However, their mother doesn’t build any nests or go out to look for food.
“We couldn’t find out how they just kept growing without food. Until one night, I saw a baby spider lying on its mom’s abdomen (腹部),” a scientist said. “An idea came to my mind—Maybe the mother spider feeds her babies with something from her body.”
Later, scientists found that a kind of milklike liquid (液体) came out from the mother spider’s upper abdomen (上腹部)—the jumping spider had milk like mammals!
The finding soon came out to the public. Some people began to think if it was possible to see spider’s milk in stores, next to cow’s milk and goat’s milk. However, that would take a lot of spiders and need the world’s smallest milking machines (机器).

The Ugly Duckling
Once upon a time, there was a mother duck. She had six little ducklings. Five of the ducklings were small and yellow, but the last duckling was big and grey. “He doesn’t look like us! What an ugly duckling!”
At the river, the ugly duckling swam well, just like all the other ducklings. But the other ducklings still laughed at him and told him to go away.
