In spring, big sandstorms often trouble people in northern China. They mainly come from Mongolia. Warm and dry weather is the main reason. Strong winds, sand areas and changing weather are the three main causes. However, we have useful ways to prevent them. Thanks to China’s Three-North Shelter Forest Program (三北防护林), sandstorms happen less often now.
Rain and Rescue in Central China—By the Numbers
When a disaster happens, acting quickly can save lives. In May 2026, serious floods and landslides hit some places in Central and Southwest China, including Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou. Local governments (政府) took action at once and carried out emergency plans (应急预案). Firefighters, police, doctors and other workers worked as a team to move people to safety.
They used boats and trucks to get people out of the floodwater. Doctors built small medical stations to look after the injured. Workers repaired phone lines so people could contact their families. Meanwhile, volunteers from nearby cities sent food, water and clothes to people in trouble. All people tried their best to fight against the disaster.
This shows that quick emergency plans and good teamwork among different groups are the best ways to keep people safe and cut down losses (损失). When everyone works together, we can act faster and help more people in time. No one can fight against natural disasters alone.
