About 500 years ago in China, there was a cool traveller (旅行者). He spent about 30 years travelling across China. His name was Xu Xiake.
Xu Xiake was from Jiangsu Province. When he was a child, Xu enjoyed reading books about Chinese mountains and rivers. He made a wish then. He wanted to see them when he grew up. Xu began to travel when he was about 20 years old. Before he left, his mother made him a hat for his travelling.
Xu travelled to 21 provinces and over 100 cities in China. He climbed thousands of mountains and discovered (发现) over 350 caves (洞穴). Xu was the first person to record Mount Huangshan. And he discovered the Yangtze River’s source.
Xu travelled mostly on foot. He slept and ate in the wild. Sometimes he fell into rivers or ran into dangerous animals. But Xu was brave and he always enjoyed travelling. He kept a diary while travelling and the book Travels of Xu Xiake is still popular today!

Dolphins are amazing animals that live in the sea. They look beautiful and swim very fast in the water. They are one of the most popular animals all over the world.
People love dolphins for many reasons. They are not only lovely, but also very clever. Dolphins have a high IQ. They can even “talk” with each other. Scientists try to “talk” with dolphins, and the results make them really surprised. They find that dolphins can understand them very well.
Most animals like playing, but dolphins make their games special. In 1997, scientists on a beach saw a little dog go into the sea. To their surprise, the dolphins swam to the dog and started throwing it into the air. The dog enjoyed the game and played with the dolphins for more than an hour!
Dolphins live in a world very different from ours, but they are good at our “IQ tests”. For example, when a dolphin hears a whistle (口哨声), it jumps out of the water. It does this because it can get a fish as a reward (奖励). However, there is still so much we don’t know about these amazing animals.
