The P2R Reading Method at Our School
In High School Affiliated (附属的) to Southwest University, teachers introduce an important method that helps to improve reading to students. It's called the P2R method: Preview, Read, and Review.
PREVIEW READ
Read fast. Look for: the introduction or the first paragraph or two; the headings, pictures or charts; the last paragraph or two. This is to get the main idea of the text and develop a sense of the progression of ideas. Now mark ten pages of reading and read the material, taking notes or highlighting important information. The number of the pages you choose depends on the book you are reading.
The P2R makes our students better at reading. If they keep using it, even their writing will improve.
With P2R, it's easier for us to read because it helps us better understand and remember the information.
REVIEW
You can review in many ways: summarize the writer's main idea in your own words; write down three or four sentences summarizing what you've read; close the book and recite the key information under each heading; quiz yourself on questions at the end of the passage; create questions you may see on the exam about this material and answer them.
56.How many steps are included in the P2R method
A.2. B.3. C.4. D.5.
57.According to the passage, which of the following statements is NOT true
A.The headings and pictures can help you get the main idea.
B.It's necessary for you to take notes when you are reading.
C.Closing the book and reciting is the best way to review.
D.Both teachers and students find the P2R method helpful.
58.Where can you most probably read the passage
A.In a school magazine.
B.In a storybook.
C.In a science report.
D.In a travel guide.

In 2012, Zheng Yuxiao set up a photography team together with his schoolmates. They decided to take pictures for villagers during vacations. The team first went to a village in Liupanshui city and took over 400 pictures for the villagers and were warmly received by the locals.
“Some elderly people and children had never had photos of themselves taken before. After they saw their pictures for the first time, their eyes were filled with joy,” said Zheng.
To keep the project going, the students made money in their spare time by collecting and selling used books and bottles.
In 2023, Zheng met Wang Linhui, a villager who he had taken pictures of years ago and found that the village had gone through great changes over the past years. In one family photo, Wang and her two children were standing in front of their shabby (破旧的) house.
“At that time, my family was poor. Now I can get 20,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan a year, and my husband can get more, which is enough to support the family,” Wang said.
“My house was built five years ago. It is bright and comfortable,” Wang told Zheng.
Every year when students graduate and leave the team, younger students join it. Today, the students have come to realize that the pictures not only read many happy moments, but also show the changes in these poor areas towards a bright future.

Are dolphins brainy The answer must be yes! They can learn from other animals, play games, learn symbols and do much more.
Humans have studied dolphins for many years to learn how their brains work. For example, people have seen dolphins use conch shells (海螺壳) to catch fish. It tells us that dolphins are good at using tools.
In one study, scientists at a research centre showed dolphins two boards, each with a different number of points. They taught the dolphins to pick out which board had fewer points. Then they showed the dolphins other sets of boards and asked them to point to the ones with the fewest points—this time with no help. The dolphins were able to do it, showing that they can understand some basic knowledge about numbers! So dolphins are clearly clever.
But are they “The Smartest Animal of All Time”? That's hard to say. Animals show cleverness in many ways. Some have great memories. Take an elephant as an example. It can make out an elephant it met many years ago and say “hello”. Others are super problem-solvers, like octopuses (章鱼), who can work out how to open a can with a cover to get a treat inside. Monkeys can be fast learners, some birds have amazing senses of direction, and so on. All these kinds of cleverness are important, making it difficult to tell which animal is much smarter.
At last, each animal is good at finding ways to live in the changeable environment. And this means one thing for sure: dolphins are the smartest of all in being dolphins!
62.Why does the writer start the text by asking a question
A.To make a report. B.To do a survey.
C.To tell a funny story. D.To catch readers' interest.
63.How do we know dolphins are clearly clever in paragraph 3
A.Dolphins can use tools.
B.Dolphins can compare numbers.
C.Dolphins can catch different boards.
D.Dolphins can play games with people.
64.Which of the following would the writer most probably agree with
A.It's hard to find clever animals in nature.
B.Octopuses' ability is not really important.
C.Dolphins are the smartest animals on Earth.
D.Each animal has its own ability to fit the environment.
65.In which unit of a textbook can the text be found
A.Unit 1 Travelling Around
B.Unit 2 Sports and Fitness
C.Unit 3 The World of Animals
D.Unit 4 Science and Technology

Maths is a subject that many students find challenging, but it doesn't have to be that way! The secret to learning maths well is to have fun in learning it and understand it deeply.
There is a common and harmful misunderstanding in maths. Some people think that top maths students are those who can quickly remember maths facts, like multiplication tables (2×2=4). However, research shows that this isn't true. They don't just remember; they understand numbers in a proper way. This is called “number sense”. Number sense means you can understand numbers and how they work together in different ways.
The new school standards are helping students learn maths better by paying less attention to remembering and more to understanding numbers. This is important because number sense is the key to all higher-level maths.
Why is number sense so important Here are three big reasons:
When you practise number sense, you get better at solving maths problems. You can think more creatively and find solutions more easily.
Learning number sense helps you feel more confident about maths. When you understand numbers, you're glad to try new things and not be afraid of making mistakes.
When you pay attention to understanding numbers, maths becomes more interesting. You start to see how cool numbers can be and how they work together.
So, number sense is so important. With number sense, maths can be a lot easier and a lot more fun!
66.What is the common misunderstanding about top maths students
A.They have fun in learning maths.
B.They are born with a talent for maths.
C.They practise maths problems every day.
D.They can quickly remember maths facts.
67.What do the new school standards focus more on
A.Understanding numbers.
B.Solving difficult maths problems.
C.Building problem-solving skills.
D.Making maths interesting for students.
68.What does the underlined word “solutions” mean
A.Numbers. B.Reasons.
C.Ways. D.Mistakes.
69.What can we infer about students with good number sense
A.They may stop using multiplication tables.
B.They may perform better in higher-level maths.
C.They may be afraid of making mistakes in maths.
D.They may spend more time doing maths exercises.
70.What is the best title for the text
A.Study Maths in Groups
B.Develop Number Sense in Maths
C.Change Standards in Maths
D.Find New Maths Teaching Methods
第二节 (2026邯郸三模)阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
  阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
I used to live in a small town with trees all around. It has been about thirty years since I left my hometown. But I still remember what it was exactly like. And I often “see” it in many of my dreams. My hometown is a beautiful place. It stands beside a wide river and is rich in fish and rice.
But in the old days it was a poor little town. Many people had no work. They lived a hard life. There was no tall building and the only street was narrow. But trees and flowers made the town beautiful. Just outside the town, there was a river. You could see different kinds of fish swimming in the clear water. People here lived a simple life.
Since the government took a new policy, great changes have taken place there. The streets have been widened. Factories, schools, hospitals, cinemas and theatres have been built one after another. People's lives are greatly improved. You can see tall buildings, big department stores and factories everywhere. Different kinds of cars and buses are running in the wide streets.
But with the development of the industry, we have fewer trees. Air pollution and water pollution are becoming more and more serious. And there are also other problems. We should try our best to make it richer. At the same time we must do something to stop pollution.
71.When did the writer leave his hometown

72.What was the life that people lived in the old days like

73.Why has the town changed a lot

Firstly, before listening I need to relax. I shouldn't get nervous or excited. Secondly, I need to listen carefully to the first sentence. The first sentence tells a lot about the whole passage. Thirdly, when I'm listening, I should try to do some thinking. This way I may understand the passage better. Fourthly, I should listen for just the keywords. Finally, I shouldn't think about one or two words for too long. I may hear some words that I don't know, but can't spend too much time on them, or I'll miss more.
I hope I can get good grades in the English test next Friday.

Improve Learning Efficiency
Our school did a survey about what most improves our learning efficiency. Here are the results.
According to the survey, 43% of the students consider correct learning methods most important, 32% believe that good learning habits matter most, and 25% think active learning attitudes are the key.
I find that the correct learning method is the most effective. First, I always make a clear study plan and break tasks into small parts. This helps me focus on what to do step by step. Second, I like to solve problems by myself before asking for help. Last but not least, I review regularly to check my progress.
By following these methods, I can study more efficiently at home.
