Koalas (树袋熊) are often called koala bears, but they are not bears. They have small eyes, a big nose and round ears. And they have no tails. They can run as fast as a rabbit. They can also climb trees very well.
Koalas live in eucalyptus trees (桉树) and feed on the tree leaves. They usually sleep about 20 hours a day. The word “koala” means “no drink” because they don’t drink water very often. They get all the water they need from the yummy leaves they eat.
A koala mom usually has one baby at a time. When the baby is born (出生), it is only 2 cm long. It has no hair, no ears, and can’t see anything. It lives in its mom’s pouch (育儿袋), and stays there for about 6 months. That’s when it starts to see and grows ears and hair. After 8 to 9 months, it’s too big to get into the pouch, so it spends all its time on its mother’s back. At about 12 months, it leaves its mom to build its home. Usually, a koala can live for 16 years.
Now koalas are in great danger. Their numbers are dropping every year. A group called Bangalow Koalas started in 2019 to help save them. They’ve planted over 336,000 eucalyptus trees, and they want to plant 500,000 more by 2025. A worker of the group said, “We love the cute animals. We’ll do everything to save them.” In fact, it’s everyone’s duty to save them.

On March 29, 2026, Shanghai started its first “Plasticfree Takeaway Day”. The activity encouraged people to say no to plastic forks, spoons, knives, and straws when they order food online.
On that day, many people in Shanghai chose bamboo chopsticks and spoons instead of plastic ones. Some people even brought their own lunch boxes to get food from restaurants. The restaurants also did their part—they used paper bags or bamboo boxes to pack food. A young man named Li Wei said, “Using bamboo chopsticks feels good. I know I am helping the Earth.”
This activity is very important for protecting our environment. Plastic pollution has become a serious problem in big cities. Every year, people throw away millions of plastic forks and spoons. Most of them end up in landfills (填埋场) or the ocean, and they take hundreds of years to break down. They can harm animals and make the water dirty.
By reducing the use of plastic, we can make our city cleaner and greener. Many young people supported this activity. They said they would continue to use ecofriendly products in the future. A student from a middle school in Shanghai said, “I will bring my own chopsticks to school every day. It is a small change, but it helps a lot.”
Shanghai’s “Plasticfree Takeaway Day” is a great example for other cities. If everyone does a little, together we can make a big difference for our planet.
18. What did some restaurants use to pack food on “Plasticfree Takeaway Day”
A.Plastic bags.
B.Glass boxes.
C.Paper bags or bamboo boxes.
19. Why is the “Plasticfree Takeaway Day” important
A.Because it reduces plastic pollution.
B.Because it makes food taste better.
C.Because it helps restaurants save money.
20. What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph
A.The activity was not very successful.
B.Other cities will soon start similar activities.
C.People in Shanghai no longer use any plastic.
21. Where can we find this article
A.In a science magazine.
B.In a travel guide.
C.In a newspaper.

Is the sky bluer in autumn than in summer The answer is yes! There are some reasons behind this.
The sun is lower in the sky in autumn. As the days get shorter, the sun becomes lower and lower. The sun is no longer right above us, and the Earth turns away from it. This allows more blue light to reach our eyes, making the sky look much bluer.
In autumn, there is less water in the air, so there are fewer clouds. Autumn has nice weather — it is not too hot and the air is drier. The air is dry, so clouds hardly form (形成). When there are few or no clouds, the blue sky appears much clearer, brighter and more open.
You might be surprised, but the colourful leaves of autumn actually help boost the blue colour of the sky. It can make the sky seem even bluer. In art class, you learn that blue and orange look nice together. Red, orange, and golden fall leaves make the blue sky easy to see. This looks nice and gives us a special autumn picture.
So, the next time you go out to enjoy the beautiful weather in autumn, take a moment to look up at the sky, remember these reasons why it looks so blue and enjoy the view!
22. Why does the sky look bluer in autumn according to Paragraph 2
A.Because the sun is smaller.
B.Because the sun is lower.
C.Because the sun is over us.
23. Which one shows the relationship between the water in the air (x) and the blue colour of the sky (y)
24. What is the structure of the passage
25. What is the best title for the passage
A.Colors of beautiful autumn
B.Cool and nice autumn weather
C.Why the sky is bluer in autumn

When it comes to doing homework, many students now turn to GAI (Generative AI) for help. But is GAI a better homework helper than parents ___26___
Sam Lee: I think GAI is better than parents in some ways. GAI is like a supersmart library! ___27___ GAI is also quick to answer questions. It gives answers in just a few seconds. ___28___ Once I asked it a maths problem and it quickly explained the answer step by step. My parents might need more time to think about the problem before working it out. Sure, parents know me better, but for quick answers, GAI wins!
Wang Kai: ___29___ Once, I asked two GAI helpers a history question, and they gave me different answers! Then I found one of the GAI helpers was wrong! When I told it about the mistake, it just said sorry without explaining how to find the right answer. So next time GAI gives you an answer, think it over. However, my parents are different. They use reallife examples to help me think. My dad once shared his experience of buying apples and oranges to explain a problem about a linear equation in two variables (二元一次方程)! The example made learning fun and helped me understand it better. ___30___
A.So it can save me a lot of time.
B.GAI knows more about my study habits.
C.Here are two students’ different ideas on it.
D.GAI is fast, but my parents help me think deeply!

A Special Day
Last Sunday was special because I organized a charity sale with my classmates.
This term’s study tour was very special. Our teacher asked us to organize a practical activity to help people in need. So my classmates and I set up a stall at the entrance of the park. It was sunny and the sky was very blue that day. We sold handmade crafts and old books to help poor children. After counting 1,580 yuan donations, I felt proud that teenagers can make a difference. When I got home, my parents praised me.
This special day taught me the power of kindness and teamwork.
