　　“It doesn't matter how good you are. You can always be better, even if you're already the best！” This is the lesson we learn from Xu Yuanchong. He is the famous translator who passed away on June 17th, 2021, at the age of 100.
　　Xu began to translate Chinese poetry into both English and French when he was still a teenager. He soon learned that Chinese and European languages were very different. Only about half of the words in these languages could be translated word-for-word. So Xu always emphasized that translators have to be creative. Xu also tried to improve his translations to make sure they are correct and beautiful. Xu's motto is: Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better.
　　Xu is considered to be the best, but that hasn't stopped him from always trying to become better. Most of you are good at English or some other subjects.
