However, knowledge can't go through the pillow into your brain. But that doesn't mean you can't learn while you are asleep.Scientists aren't exactly sure how it works, but they have discovered that the brain can learn things during sleeping hours. In one experiment, researchers gave German speakers some Dutch words to learn. Then, they divided them into three groups. The researchers played the Dutch words for people in Group 1 while they were asleep, without telling these German speakers what they were doing. The sound was low so it didn't wake them up, and only the newly introduced words were used. Another group listened to the same words while they were awake. The researchers found the people in Group 1 were better able to identify (识别) and translate the words later. This was true only for the words that were played while they slept. The third group listened to the words when they walked. The walkers didn't have the same success in remembering the words as the sleeping group. The researchers later found that people had more slow-wave brain activities all over the night. They said that more slow waves made people have a better memory for the new words.1.When did the researchers play foreign words for people in Group 1 in the experiment A.Before they went for a walk.B.Before they went to bed.C.When they were asleep.D.When they were having dinner.2.(新考向 代词指代题)What does the underlined word “them” refer to in paragraph 3 A.Dutch words. He had woken up a few minutes earlier on a subway train, with a headache, and had no idea where he was going or who he was. “I was frightened,” he said later, when talking about the experience. “I didn't know anything. It was like being in the darkness.” Doug went to the police station because he had nowhere else to go. He was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and had a bag with something in it: a Spanish book, a bunch of keys and a map of New York. The police were confused. “We'd never had anything like this before,” said a policeman. They sent Doug to a hospital. On his name card the nurse wrote “unknown white man”. The doctors were surprised at his memory loss. Although Doug could make sentences without difficulty, he remembered nothing about his own past. One doctor at the hospital said that he had only ever seen such a serious disease “in the movies and books”. The hospital would not let Doug go until he had come to himself. Finally, hospital staff found a phone number in his Spanish book. It was the number of his friend. Doug phoned and his friend recognized his voice at once. “Is that you, Doug?” she said. His friend went to the hospital, told the doctors who Doug was, and took him home. “Home” turned out to be a perfect flat in downtown Manhattan, which he shared with two dogs and three birds. Doug discovered that he had once lived in Paris, where he had made a lot of money working at a big company. Then he had got tired of the business world, so he left and went to New York for a four-year course in photography. Since Doug had discovered himself, he had to deal with other difficulties. He was worried about meeting his family and friends. They seemed like strangers to him. His sisters told him that he had changed. Before his memory loss, he seldom showed his feelings in public. Now he has become much more relaxed and doesn't fear showing his feelings.1.How did the doctors feel at Doug's case 2.What could Doug still do after he lost his memory 3.Who recognized Doug and took him home 4.Where did Doug live with two dogs and three birds 5.According to the passage, can you think of one difficulty Doug had to deal with after he discovered himself 详解答案基础达标Ⅰ.1.sadness 2.reacted 3.memorized4.retold 5.positionⅡ.1.by 2.What 3.a 4.whenⅢ.1.reduce stress 2.ran out of3.has mixed up 4.puts; to good use能力提升Ⅰ.【语篇解读】本文主要探讨了睡眠中学习是否可行的问题。通过实验发现,大脑在睡眠期间确实可以学习新事物,尤其是慢波脑活动增强时,有助于提升对新信息的记忆能力。1.C 解析:细节理解题。根据第三段“The researchers played the Dutch words for people in Group 1 while they were asleep”可知,研究人员在第一组人睡着的时候播放荷兰语单词。故选C。2.B 解析:代词指代题。根据第三段“researchers gave German speakers some Dutch words to learn. Then, they divided them into three groups.” 根据第四段“The third group listened to the words when they walked. The walkers didn't have the same success in remembering the words as the sleeping group.”可知,第三组在走路时听单词,他们记住单词的效果不如睡眠组,即第一组。故选D。5.B 解析:文章出处题。根据第二段“Scientists aren't exactly sure how it works, but they have discovered that the brain can learn things during sleeping hours.” 1.They felt surprised.2.He could make sentences without difficulty.3.His friend.4.He lived in a perfect flat in downtown Manhattan.5.He had to meet his family and friends. 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源预览
