From the food ingredients, the placing on the plate to the background music and much more, chefs and companies in the UK are planning to change our dining experiences, and the trends in dining out.
Entomophagy
This is a proper term for eating insects! Numerous people realize that many of our basic food may disappear in the coming decades and insects can offer people good protein (蛋白质) to replace animal meats, so they believe insects are a good choice. It hasn’t quite happened yet because we all think insects are extremely unpleasant. But, many chefs are already experimenting in the field. A number of top chefs in London are using their cooking creativity to turn something unpleasant into something delicious.
Tech at the Table
Digital products will probably become a common part of our food and drink experiences in the near future. We’re going to see things like tablets and computer screens that can tell stories around the food we are eating. We’ll be able to change the color of plates digitally, because we know that colors can change the taste of food or make it look better.
The Experimental Meal
The experimental meal is liked by a growing number of people interested in finding new connections between their senses. They think that food is not just what goes into the mouth, but a whole experience. They’re seeing dining — music, lighting, staff uniforms, temperature changes — as a whole meal. They are trying to put different things together instead of having dinner and then going to the theatre, why not bring the two together The same goes for cinema and music.
1.What is the reason for some people to turn to insects for food
A.The better taste of protein from insects. B.The popularity of some chefs in London.
C.The possibility of main food disappearing. D.The performance of some chefs’ experiments.
2.Why is the color of plates changed digitally
A.To make the food healthy. B.To make the food attractive.
C.To make the plate funny. D.To make the plate eco-friendly.
3.Why do some people prefer the experimental meal

C.To combine food with digital products. D.To carry out technology experiments.

Spending Spring Festival with families in China is a fun experience for foreigners and a valuable opportunity to learn about Chinese culture. This is especially true in North China’s Shanxi Province, which is well-known for its traditions and unique dishes, when people celebrate this most important Chinese festival.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve, the family of Yu Yanping, a resident in the village of Dongkaizhang in Yongji City, were busy preparing a big dinner. They welcomed two foreign guests — Pinas Lloyd Lucien from Suriname, South America, and Nahla Karay from Tunisia, North Africa — to their home.
Among dishes on Yu’s menu were jiaozi (dumplings), fried bean curd and hotpot. “Jiaozi is the No.1 food for a Spring Festival Eve dinner and our local characteristic with a beef stuffing is famous throughout the country,” Yu said. “So we are going to give a special treat to our foreign guests with beef-stuffed jiaozi.”
The preparation of jiaozi during Spring Festival usually includes the participation of all family members and guests. Lloyd and Nahla joined in to make this traditional food by learning from Yu’s family. Making jiaozi reminded Nahla of preparing dishes with her family at New Year in Tunisia. She told the hosts that couscous is the special food for New Year’s Day celebrations in her country. Couscous is made from the North African variety of millet (小米). Nahla noted that Shanxi is a globally well-known producer of millet and the province has much food with millet.
In addition to inviting foreigners, the province also held Spring Festival celebrations in foreign countries. On Jan. 14, the Shanxi Chamber of Commerce hosted a Spring Festival celebration in Dubai. The event included such activities as dragon and lion dances, a fashion show featuring qipao and Chinese-style decorated umbrellas. One day in the winter, when Liu was playing in her house, Wang used sign language (手语) to communicate with her. But Liu could not understand what she was trying to say. It was Wang’s husband who told Liu that she wanted to make her a scarf (围巾).

Space exploration has always been a dream for humans. For thousands of years, people have looked up at the night sky, wondering about the stars and unknown planets. Today, with the fast development of modern science and technology, more space tasks can be finished step by step. Many space dreams that were impossible in the past are slowly turning into reality.
In the past, only a few powerful countries could carry out space programs. But now, more nations and research teams have joined in the exploration. They send special machines and brave astronauts into space to collect information, take photos and do useful experiments. These studies help people learn more about the moon, Mars and other parts of the solar system. Some teams even work together to share technology and cost.
One of the hottest topics today is Mars exploration. Scientists believe Mars once had water and air, which are key conditions for life. By sending probes and rovers to Mars, researchers hope to find signs of ancient life and check whether humans could live there in the future. This long-term plan needs plenty of money, careful preparation and strict safety tests. It also makes people think more about humans’ future in space.
However, space exploration also brings challenges. The environment in space is dangerous — there is no fresh air, but there is strong radiation and huge temperature changes. Every space task may face unexpected risks. Besides, space projects cost a lot and need years of hard work before getting clear results. It can be very difficult to achieve success at one time.
Even so, most scientists agree that space exploration is valuable. It not only helps us know more about the universe, but also promotes the development of new technology on Earth. Many daily products we use today were first developed for space research. For future generations, continuing to explore space will always be meaningful and hopeful. It pushes human society to move forward and discover the unknown.
12.What can we know from the past space exploration
A.It focused on deep space research. B.It finished most space tasks step by step.
C.It sent many astronauts into space directly. D.It was only developed by a few strong countries.
13.What do the underlined words “probes and rovers” in Paragraph 3 refer to
A.Brave astronauts. B.Research machines. C.Common photos. D.Daily products.
14.What is the writer’s attitude to space exploration
A.Supportive. B.Worried. C.Uncaring. D.Satisfied.
15.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
