He or she is connecting with centuries of history and wisdom. This sense of belonging is important for building cultural confidence.
Second, traditional arts can improve creativity. Many traditional art forms require imagination and patience. For example, making a puppet involves designing, carving and painting. These processes train the brain to think in new ways.
Third, learning traditional arts teaches responsibility. When teenagers take on the duty of keeping an old art alive, they learn what it means to serve their community. Zhan Haojing once said it was her duty to keep the art alive because puppetry was in her blood.

The topic of China’s “slash youths” (斜杠青年) has been hot on social media for some time, drawing attention to the different pursuits (追求) of the young people nowadays.
The “slash youths” means those who have more than one personal identity (身份). They like to show or describe themselves with different identities, such as a nurse and a model, a teacher and an excellent singer, or an engineer and a band player. Li Lan is one of them. She mainly works as a tour guide, and she is also known as a great designer who created many great book covers. She gives up her comfortable life because she wants to pursue more meaningful achievements.
A different job can make them develop new experiences and talents. What’s more, they can get accepted by others, and they can have a sense of satisfaction.
A study on “slash youths” in the China Youth Study magazine talks about the background of this phenomenon (现象). From the point of social development, changeable job markets have appeared because the modern society’s usual organization is partly broken. As for young people themselves, when they try to rediscover the meaning of work, they face the difficulty of self-development, like feeling powerless, worthless in the job, and so on.
Clearly, the appearance of the slash life leads to some changes. “The slash life shows that our society is changing for the better in some ways, and it welcomes everyone’s self-development, ” said Shi Yanrong, an associate researcher from Tianjin Academy of Social Sciences. “Young people no longer have to depend on work and money for their sense of self-development. They would like to create their own identities.” The researcher added that because people have different interests and are willing to pay for these interests nowadays, the slash life of the youth would drive the growth of a new economy (经济) and its development.
66.What is the “slash youths”
67.Why does Li Lan give up her comfortable life
68.In the passage, what is the background of the “slash youths” phenomenon
69.Translate the underlined sentence into Chinese.
