Unit 3 Past passing by shows us the power of time and memories. Time passes quickly. Many places and customs that existed years ago have changed greatly. Some old streets are gone, and new modern buildings appear. Some traditional skills are slowly disappearing.
Though the old days are gone, memories stay alive. Old photos, old toys and old houses serve as silent witnesses. They bring back sweet memories of childhood. Old people like to look back on their early life and share stories from the past. Teenagers can take advantage of these stories to know more about history.

When I was a child, I lived in a quiet small town with my grandparents. Everyone in the town knew each other, and life was slow and simple. My grandma often made sweet osmanthus cookies for me, and my grandpa taught me how to fish with a homemade rod. Those days were full of joy without any worries.
When I was ten, my parents took me to the city to live. I had to leave my friends and the small town behind. At first, I felt lonely and missed my grandparents terribly. But gradually, I made new friends at school and got used to the busy city life. Now I’m a high school student. Every summer vacation, I go back to the small town to visit my grandparents. They shared lots of stories about their teenage life. There were no smartphones at that time. Their happiness came from simple little things in daily life.
I also practiced attributive clauses in this unit. I can write sentences that describe old objects and the people who lived in old times. I found that time changes our world, but true warm feelings never disappear completely.
Teenagers live in a fast changing modern world. We enjoy new technology, but we should also respect history. We can record our own present life, listen to the elders and keep some meaningful small objects. Today’s moments will become our precious past in the future.

Time keeps passing by, and many things in our life change little by little. Old photos, hand written diaries and some daily objects from the old days are not expensive. But they carry precious memories for families and the whole society. They record what people ate, how they worked and what kind of life they lived years ago.
Some people hope to forget the past completely and only focus on modern life. Actually, the past offers us valuable lessons. Happy memories bring us warmth, while unhappy experiences warn us not to repeat similar mistakes. This unit mainly reviews attributive clauses. We can use “which/that” for things and “who” for people to describe old stories and memories.
We do not need expensive collections to remember the past. We can listen to our elders’ stories, look through family photos and read public records. These small actions help us understand how our society develops. What we learn from the past can help us live a better life at present.
26.Which of the following can carry people’s past memories

When I graduated from junior high school three years ago, I thought I would never miss the busy and tiring school days. But now, I often look back on those times with a warm smile. I remember the morning reading sessions when we all read aloud together in the classroom. I remember the school sports meeting where we cheered loudly for our classmates, even when they were far behind. I also remember the late nights when we studied together for exams, sharing snacks and encouraging each other. My classmates and I used to help each other whenever someone was in trouble. We had a lot of fun even though we were busy with schoolwork.
Last month, I went back to my old school. The classroom where I studied was still there, but the desks and chairs were new. My old head teacher told me that many new students were studying there now. I walked around the school and found that the playground was bigger and had new running tracks. I sat on the bench where I used to sit with my best friend during breaks. I felt so nostalgic.
