On a south-facing hill in northern Canada, snow slides down as a mother polar bear pushes her way out of the hole, sticking her head into the open air. Four months earlier, she had given birth to two bears. They stay close to their mother for warmth and food.
Barle’s life could have started like this. People think she was born and grew up on the west bank of Hudson Bay in 1984. Old papers show that she may have been sent to Germany in 1986 through the Manitoba Polar Bear Help Program. The program tried to move orphaned (孤儿的) baby bears to other countries and make sure they could live a good life. In Germany, Barle lived with animal trainer Fredy Gafner for unknown reasons. Soon after 1990, Gafner took his bear show to the Mexican Suarez Brothers Circus.
For 13 years, Barle and six other polar bears were forced to perform. People did not let Barle run, swim or climb, and she could not find a partner or have baby bears. When there were no shows, Barle and the other bears were kept in a truck with seven small metal rooms.
Barle might never have been saved if two Canadians, Ken and Sherri Gigliotti, had not helped. In 1996, the couple traveled to Cozumel, Mexico, and visited the Suarez Brothers Circus (马戏团). They were shocked and saddened by the bears’ poor living conditions. They brought home a program and shared their story with the local newspaper, the Winnipeg Free Press.
Soon after the newspaper published the story, Debbie Leahy, the head of an animal protection group, began to investigate the circus. She watched the bears perform many times, and once visited their living areas behind the stage. Every time she went there, the bears were dirty, and many flies flew around them.

Generative AI (生成式人工智能) has brought a rapid rise in new writing, music, images and videos. The Internet is full of AI-made content, and markets are busy with AI-related projects as AI companies make huge profits.
