Losing both arms at the age of five didn’t break Li Lina’s spirit. Instead, it pushed her to work harder and live a wonderful life with her feet.
When Li Lina was a little girl, she lost her two arms in an accident. People around her felt sorry for her, but she didn’t see herself as an unlucky person. “I can do everything with my feet,” she always said.
Learning to write with her feet was the first big challenge. At first, she could hardly hold a pen between her toes. The pen always fell down, and her feet got sore after practising for a while. Many times she wanted to give up, but she told herself that she must keep trying. She practised for hours every day, even when her toes were bleeding. After half a year, she could finally write clearly with her feet.
As she grew older, she learned to do more things with her feet: brushing teeth, washing clothes, cooking, and even typing on a computer. She never asked for special treatment at school. She finished all her homework on her own and always got good grades.
In 2020, Li Lina took the college entrance examination with her feet. She studied day and night for the exam. Sometimes she studied so late that her feet felt numb, but she never stopped. Finally, she was accepted by a famous university with high scores.
Now Li Lina is studying in college. She wants to be a psychologist in the future to help more people who are in trouble. “Difficulties may come to your life, but they don’t have to break you,” she said. “As long as you have a strong will and never give up, you can always find a way to shine.”

Why do some people succeed while others fail One important reason is that successful people never give up easily.
Life is full of difficulties. We all face problems in our studies, work or relationships. When things go wrong, many people choose to stop trying. They say, “It’s too hard,” or “I can’t do it.” But successful people think differently. They see difficulties as challenges. They believe that every problem has a solution.
Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he invented the light bulb. When asked how he felt about failing so many times, he said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” This is the spirit of never giving up.
Of course, never giving up does not mean doing the same thing again and again without thinking. It means learning from mistakes, trying new ways and keeping going until you succeed.
Remember, failure is not the opposite of success. It is part of success. So the next time you want to give up, tell yourself: just one more try.
26.What is the main idea of the passage
A.Failure is terrible. B.Successful people never give up.
C.Edison invented the light bulb. D.Life is full of difficulties.
27.What do many people do when facing difficulties

28.What did Edison mean by his words
A.He liked failing. B.He found the right way at last.
C.He failed 10,000 times. D.He didn’t want to invent anything.
29.What does the writer say about never giving up
A.It means trying the same way. B.It means never thinking.
C.It means learning from mistakes. D.It means asking others for help.
30.What is the writer’s attitude towards failure

Have you ever heard of the 10,000-hour rule It says that if you want to become an expert in something, you need to practise for about 10,000 hours. It is not about talent, but about hard work and persistence.
Many famous people have proved this rule. For example, Mo Yan, the first Chinese Nobel Prize winner in literature, wrote for many years before he became famous. He worked on his writing every day, even when he was very busy. He never gave up even when his works were refused many times.
Another example is Lang Lang, the famous pianist. He started playing the piano at the age of three. He practised for several hours every day when he was a kid. Sometimes his hands hurt, but he still kept going. His hard work finally made him a world-famous pianist.
The 10,000-hour rule tells us that there is no shortcut to success. If you want to achieve your dream, you need to keep working hard and never give up. One day, all your efforts will pay off.
66.What does the 10,000-hour rule talk about
67.Who is the first Chinese Nobel Prize winner in literature

1.A 2.B 3.C 4.B 5.C 6.B 7.A 8.C 9.B 10.A
根据“with a serious illness”可知,是确诊疾病。
固定短语rob sb. of sth.
固定短语stand in one’s way表示“阻碍某人、挡路”。

Persistence Makes Me Grow
Everyone may meet difficulties in daily life. When I was in Grade 8, I had great trouble with my spoken English. I was afraid to speak in public and always got nervous when talking to others.
I decided to change this situation. I kept reading English aloud for half an hour every morning. I also joined the English corner and tried to talk with others as much as possible. Sometimes I made mistakes and felt upset, but I never gave up. Little by little, my spoken English improved a lot.
From this experience, I learned that nothing is impossible if we keep trying. Persistence can always help us overcome difficulties and make us grow.
