About one year ago, my grandfather was ill. His illness influenced his legs, which made it difficult for him to walk. Then my family started looking for nursing homes. It took us two weeks before making a decision. Unluckily, he had to stay there until he improved. Then I knew the care and service old people needed and how important it was to volunteer (做志愿者) at a nursing home.
I did volunteer work at my grandfather’s nursing home last summer. I volunteered two times a week during the summer. I learned many things about nursing homes, including the old people’s life, the care they received and the environment around them.

Nowadays, environmental protection is becoming more and more important. Many people are trying their best to make a difference to the earth.
My uncle works for an environmental organization in Beijing. Their job is to tell people about the importance of protecting the environment. They also raise money to plant trees and clean up the rivers. Last month, they organized an activity to pick up rubbish in the park. A number of volunteers took part in it.
