Small Ideas That Changed the World
When we think of great inventions, we often imagine complex machines or high technology. However, some of the most important inventions in human history are surprisingly simple. Here are three small ideas that had a huge impact.
The Wheel
The wheel was invented around 3500 BC. It may seem obvious today, but it was a revolutionary idea. Before the wheel, people had to carry heavy loads themselves or use animals. The wheel made transportation much easier and faster. It led to the development of carts, chariots, and eventually all modern vehicles.
Paper Money
Before paper money, people used coins made of gold, silver, or other metals. These were heavy and inconvenient to carry. The Chinese invented paper money during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). It was light, easy to carry, and could be printed in different values. This idea changed the way business was done all over the world.
The Zipper
The zipper was patented in 1917 by Gideon Sundback. Before zippers, people used buttons and hooks to fasten clothing. Buttons took time, and hooks could be dangerous. The zipper was quick, safe, and convenient. It was soon used in clothing, bags, and shoes. Today, we can hardly imagine life without it.
These inventions remind us that creative ideas do not have to be complicated. Sometimes the most powerful ideas are the simplest ones. So keep your eyes open — the next great invention could be something very small.

主语”both men”是复数,be动词用“were”,“work”变“working”。
固定句型:That is why...,表示“这就是……
主语“the telephone”为单数,助动词用“has”,“change”变过去分词“changed”。
固定结构:be used to do sth.
主语是“we”, be动词用“are”,“become”变“becoming”。
