People care about their pets, and it seems that pets care about people too. Did you notice that your pet dog seems to understand your feelings even when you don’t say anything
But here’s the thing—we don’t know if all pets share feelings with people, or just pet dogs can do this. Usually, most animals share feelings only with others of their own kind. Scientists wanted to know this well, so they did a study to watch how pet dogs and pet pigs would react (作出反应) when they heard people crying or humming (哼唱).
The scientists asked pet owners (主人) to record videos (视频) of their pet dogs and pet pigs. In these videos, they played sounds of their crying or humming for the dogs and pigs. Then the scientists watched closely to see how the animals would react.
The scientists found that the pet dogs were really good at understanding the feelings in the sounds. They got very worried when they heard the sound of crying but didn’t care much about the sound of humming. The pet pigs only got a little worried when they heard the crying sound, but the humming sound was scary to them.
The study shows that some pets, like dogs, might understand people’s sad feelings better than the other pets, like pigs. But scientists need to study more.

34 For example, whiskers (腮须) help cats explore the environment and find their way. When whiskers get wet, cats might not feel movements, Vitale explained.

阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
Many people like the idea of having a bird as a pet. Birds are colorful, they can sing, and they look very cute. But before you buy one, think carefully! Birds are different from other pets. They have special needs.
First, birds need friends. Unlike dogs or cats, birds can’t be alone (独自的) for too long. They are social (社交型的) animals and need to be with other birds or people. If they stay alone all day without anyone to talk to, they wouldn’t feel fun.
At first, you will enjoy watching it fly around or listening to it sing. But after some time, you may not like it. Birds need a lot of care and if you are too busy with schoolwork or other things, you might not have enough time for them.
Finally, birds can live for many years. Some kinds of birds live for 20 years or more. This means keeping a bird takes you many years. You need to make sure you can take care of it for a long time, not just for a few months.
While birds can be great pets, they need more care than many people think. Before buying a bird, ask yourself if you have enough time and energy to care for it. Remember, a pet is a friend for life, so think twice before you buy one!
66.What should people do before buying a bird as a pet
67.How will the birds feel if they stay alone all day
68.What would the pet birds need besides friends
69.How many years can some birds live up to
70.Do you want to keep a pet bird Why or why not

71.例文:
Dear Mike,
I’m glad to hear from you. Thanks for your trust.
You asked me whether it’s good for teenagers to keep a pet. In my opinion, keeping a pet is a good choice. First, pets are good listeners. You can talk to them when you are unhappy. Second, taking care of pets can help you learn to be responsible. However, it takes time and money. You should think it over. If you decide to get one, you’d better choose a small animal like a dog.
I hope my advice will be helpful. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Yours,
Li Hui
