You may think there is only sand (沙子) in the desert, but it is not the fact (事实). In the desert, there is a little rain, and it is not enough for most plants. But we can see some plants live in the desert. There is water in some places in the desert. We call these places oases (绿洲). People grow different kinds of crops (庄稼) there.
People also live outside the oases. They have camels (骆驼), sheep and other animals. These animals live on the desert plants and do not need much water.
The animals are useful to the desert people in many ways. They eat meat and drink milk and they use the camels to carry things like water and food. What’s more, the camels can even help people find water.
The desert people have to keep moving from place to place. They must always look for desert plants for their animals. When there is no more food for their animals, they move to another place. Green is more than just a color. It stands for health, youth and life. Now, it also means caring for the environment (环境).
People live in a “throw-away society”. They use things for a short time and then throw them away. Why does this happen First, there are too many choices. For example, if you are bored with your shoes after a few months, you may buy new ones and throw away the old ones. Second, many young people want the latest technology. They buy new phones and throw away the old ones. This leads to more rubbish.
Recycling is easy. You can be the “Head of Recycling” in your family. Learn what can be recycled and find a place to keep them. Encourage (鼓励) everyone to think before throwing things away — can they be reused or recycled
Being green can be fun. Look at your backyard. Can you plant a tree or start a small garden If so, get your hands dirty. You will be proud to see your tree grow and your garden produce tomatoes or strawberries.

①Most people know that trees are good for us. They give us shade on sunny days and make our world beautiful with their green leaves. But trees do much more than that. They also help to make the air around us clean and healthy, which is very important for everyone.
②First, trees take in bad air and give out good air. The good air is called oxygen (氧气). We need oxygen to breathe (呼吸) and stay healthy every day. Trees make this happen quietly, all year round. They are like nature’s air cleaners.
③Second, trees can stop dust (灰尘) and small dirty things in the air. Their leaves are like small nets that catch these things. When dust comes with the wind, it gets stuck on the leaves. Later, when it rains, the water washes the dust away. This helps to keep the air clean for us to breathe.
④Third, trees can make the air cooler on hot days. When the sun is strong, trees give out water from their leaves into the air. This makes the air around them feel fresh and cool. It is nicer to walk under trees in summer because of this.
⑤Planting trees is an easy and useful way to help our Earth. Trees work hard every day to clean the air for us. We can plant trees in our school, in parks, or near our homes. Let’s plant more trees and take good care of them, because they take good care of us.

B.Trees can help us save money.

A.①-②③④-⑤ B.①②-③④-⑤ C.①②③-④⑤ D.①-②③④⑤
D
Scientists have some important news. The year 2025 was one of the warmest years ever recorded! A climate (气候) centre in China discovered this after studying weather data (数据) from all over the world for many years. The data clearly shows our earth is getting hotter and hotter, and this trend (趋势) is not slowing down.
A key reason for this warming is the very warm Arctic. Temperatures at the North and South poles keep breaking records every year. When the ice there melts, it not only makes sea levels rise but also changes the weather: Some places may become too hot to live in comfortably, some areas may get too dry and have no enough water for farming, and others may face very big storms.
This news makes all of us focus on environmental problems. We need to protect our planet right now, and everyone can play a part. We can help by saving energy — like turning off lights when we leave a room, planting more trees to take in carbon dioxide, and using less plastic (塑料) bags and bottles because plastic takes hundreds of years to break down. Even small things, such as walking or riding bikes instead of taking cars for short trips, matter a lot. Every small action is important for our earth, and if we work together, we can make the planet a healthier home.
26.What’s the theme (主题) of the passage
A.Nature. B.Culture. C.History. D.Sports.
27.What does the underlined word “melts” in Paragraph 2 mean
A.Turns into air. B.Turns into land.
C.Turns into wind. D.Turns into water.
28.What will life on earth be like when the ice at the poles goes on melting
A.Tiring. B.Happy. C.Terrible. D.Colourful.
29.How can we save energy in daily life according to the passage
①Plant more vegetables. ②Use less plastic bottles.
③Don’t drive cars for short trips. ④Turn off water when others use it.
⑤Turn off lights when leaving a room.
A.①②⑤ B.②③⑤ C.②③④⑤ D.①②③④⑤
30.What’s the writer’s purpose in writing the passage
A.To make us know big storms are really awful.
B.To call on us to work together to protect the planet.
C.To show how bad plastic is bad for the environment.
D.To tell us the Arctic is the coldest place on earth.
