However, my favourite trips, and the ones in which I now specialize, are those involving mountains. Never do I feel more inspired by nature than when I look up at their towering peaks and begin to prepare myself mentally for the challenges ahead.I trained as a doctor in the UK, but there was little in that training to prepare me for binding up a broken leg during a storm on the side of a mountain! In fact, I’d say that medical skills come some way down the list of job requirements, after endurance, flexibility, problem-solving and communication. This kind of medicine is a million miles away from the controlled, germ-free environment of a hospital, and your medical kit basically consists of whatever you can carry, so you sometimes have to be prepared to improvise (即兴做). For example, I’ve learned that some drugs can be used for several conditions, and I’ve even had to resort to cutting branches off a small tree to make a stick to support a broken arm. That isn’t to say that you can’t train to be an expedition doctor; on the contrary, there are some excellent courses available. Not only do they teach medical techniques, but also practical skills such as carrying out risk assessments, crossing rivers safely and using satellite phones. The first course I did included a session on expedition dentistry, though I must admit I still don’t like the idea of pulling out someone’s tooth!I do most of my work for adventure holiday companies, travelling to remote places. When I started out, these holidays were quite rare, but they have become much more mainstream now that we’ve all seen celebrities climbing Kilimanjaro or watched reality shows about people surviving in jungles.I do have mixed feelings about all these people with large amounts of disposable income coming to poor areas just for their own enjoyment, so I try to make sure that the companies I work for have high ethical standards and benefit the local communities. And of course, tourism provides employment, and also opens the eyes of rich visitors to the hardship that many people are forced to endure.I realise that this kind of life isn’t for everyone, but I’d recommend that all doctors try it at least once, if only to make them appreciate the comforts of their usual working environment!24. The author feels that he has been________.A. obliged to choose his career B. lucky with his jobC. obsessed with his adventure D. inspired by his patients25. According to the passage, what can be learned about medical skills for an expedition doctor A. They are less important than practical skills.B. They are strictly required as the most important.C. They are adequately attained in medical schools.D. They are an underlying part of practical skills.26. Why do expedition doctors sometimes have to use unusual techniques A. They keep their equipment in a backpack.B. Things can happen that they don’t expect.C. They don’t have the resources of a hospital.D. They are required by the patients on the trip.27. The author works for ethical companies because________.A. they organise expeditions in the remote areas he enjoys visitingB. they appreciate the comforts of the unusual working environmentsC. he wants to make sure that his clients are safe at all times during the expeditionD. he feels uncomfortable about the difference between rich tourists and poor local peopleCHappiness, as I see it, comprises five elements: spiritual well-being (meaning and purpose), physical well-being (nutrition, exercise), intellectual well-being (curiosity, deep learning), relational well-being (kindness and generosity), and emotional well-being (cultivating positive emotions). As an interdependent aggregate of these five elements of SPIRE, happiness is about much more than experiencing pleasure. As Aristotle put it, happiness is the ultimate purpose of life, meaning how we spend our everyday lives is ultimately guided by what we think would make us happier. This is not a good or a bad thing. It simply is, like the law of nature. Even people who are tirelessly working for an important cause, for example, to get rid of world hunger, are doing it because they find their work meaningful. Meaning is an element of happiness. One barrier to happiness has to do with the expectation that happiness is an unbroken chain of positive emotions. This expectation, however, prevents people from experiencing happiness because painful emotions don’t go away but grow stronger when we reject them. The second barrier has to do with equating happiness with success. It’s a commonly held belief that happiness can be attained by achieving certain goals, like money or fame. People tend to think if they finally find success, they will automatically become happy. The third barrier has to do with the way people pursue happiness. We want to be happy for many reasons. After all, we are constantly told that happiness is good for our health, relationships, and work outcomes. Yet, if I wake up in the morning and decide to pursue happiness straight, I will become less happy. But how Indirectly. As is known, if you look up at the sun directly, you’ll hurt yourself. But if you take the same sun rays and break them down, you’ll enjoy the colors of a rainbow. Similarly, pursuing happiness directly can hurt us; pursuing it indirectly—by breaking it down into something like the SPIRE elements—can contribute to our well-being. Starting a meditation practice, exercising, performing acts of kindness, learning something new, or expressing gratitude for what we have are all indirect ways of pursuing happiness.28. What does the underlined word “aggregate” probably mean in the first paragraph A. Combination. B. Conclusion. C. Accumulation. D. Association.29. What’s the author’s attitude towards how we spend our daily lives A. Favorable. B. Suspicious. C. Objective. D. Indifferent.30. What can we know from the text A. Being a success leads one to happiness.B. Refusing negative feelings helps us obtain happiness.C. Going after happiness directly makes one feel happy.D. Pursuing one aspect of SPIRE can boost our well-being.31. Why is the sun mentioned in the last paragraph A. To make a contrast. B. To make an analogy.C. To conclude the argumentation. D. To answer the previous question.DWhen a chunk of ice fell from a collapsing glacier(冰川)on the Swiss Alps’ Mount Eiger in 2017, part of the long deep sound it produced was too low for human ears to detect. But these vibrations held a key to calculating the ice avalanche’s (崩塌) critical characteristics.Low-frequency sound waves called infrasound that travel great distances through the atmosphere are already used to monitor active volcanoes from afar. Now some researchers in this field have switched focus from fire to ice: dangerous blocks snapping off glaciers. Previous work has analyzed infrasound from snow avalanches but never ice, says Boise State University geophysicist Jeffrey Johnson. “This was different,” Johnson says. “A signature of a new material has been detected with infrasound.”Usually glaciers move far too slowly to generate an infrasound signal, which researchers pick up using detectors that track slight changes in air pressure. But a collapse—a sudden, rapid breaking of ice from the glacier’s main body—is a prolific infrasound producer. Glacial collapses drive ice avalanches, which pose an increasing threat to people in mountainous regions as rising temperatures weaken large fields of ice. A glacier “can become detached from the ground due to melting, causing bigger break— offs,” says University of Florence geologist Emanuele Marchetti, lead author of the new study. As the threat grows, scientists seek new ways to monitor and detect such collapses.Researchers often use radar to track ice avalanches, which is precise but expensive and can monitor only one specific location and neighboring avalanche paths. Infrasound, Marchetti says, is cheaper and can detect break—off events around a much broader area as well as multiple avalanches across a mountain. It is challenging, however, to separate a signal into its components (such as traffic noises, individual avalanches and nearby earthquakes) without additional measurements, says ETH Zurich glaciologist Malgorzata Chmiel. “The model used by Marchetti is a first approximation for this,” she says. Isolating the relevant signal helps the researchers monitor an ice avalanche’s speed, path and volume from afar using infrasound.Marchetti and his colleagues are now working to improve their detectors to pick up more signals across at-risk regions in Europe, and they have set up collaborations around the continent to better understand signals that collapsing glaciers produce. They are also refining their mathematical analysis to figure out each ice cascade’s physical details.32. What can we learn from Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3 A. Infrasound has a major role to play in discovering new materials.B. Ice avalanches are a bigger threat to people than volcanic eruptions.C. Researchers are trying to use infrasound in detecting ice avalanches.D. Scientists employ infrasound more in mountain areas than in other places.33. Which is an advantage of infrasound over radar A. The combination with other relevant signals.B. The accuracy in locating a certain avalanche.C. The ability in picking up signals in wider areas.D. The sensitivity in tracking air pressure changes.34. The underlined word “this” in Paragraph 4 refers to________.A. distinguishing different components of a signalB. detecting multiple avalanches at the same timeC. calculating the speed and path of ice avalanchesD. monitoring the specific location of ice break—offs35. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage A. From Fire to Ice B. Glacier WhispersC. Nature is Warning D. But it can also mean differently such as when a political candidate turns toward their competitor during a debate with a challenging look. Here’s what hard science reveals about eye contact. We know that a typical infant will instinctively gaze into its mother’s eyes, and she will look back. This mutual gaze is a major part of the attachment between mother and child. ____36____ It can catch someone’s attention in a crowded room. “Eye contact and smile” can signal availability and confidence.____37____ Neuroscientist Bonnie Augeung found that the hormone oxytocin (催产素) increased the amount of eye contact from men toward the interviewer during a brief interview when the direction of their gaze was recorded. This was also found in high-functioning men with some autistic spectrum symptoms (自闭症谱系症状), who may tend to avoid eye contact.Eye contact can also be aggressive. With the use of eye-tracking technology, Julia Minson of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government concluded that eye contact can signal very different kinds of messages, depending on the situation. Eye contact may be a sign of connection or trust in friendly situations. ____38____ “Whether you’ re a politician or a parent, it might be helpful to keep in mind that trying to maintain eye contact may backfire if you’ re trying to convince someone who has a different set of beliefs than you,” said Minson.Eye fixations are brief. When we look at a face or a picture, our eyes pause on one spot at a time, often on the eyes or mouth. These pauses typically occur about three times per second, and the eyes then jump to another spot, until several important points in the image are registered like a series of shots. ____39____ And it is the subject of current research. In people who score high in a test of neuroticism (神经过敏症), eye contact triggered more activity associated with avoidance, according to the Finnish researcher Jari Hietanen and colleagues. ____40____ People who scored high for negative emotions like anxiety looked at others for shorter periods of time and reported more comfortable feelings when others did not look directly at them.A. Their brain reactions also differ from other people.B. Biological factors behind eye contact are being investigated.C. How the whole image is then assembled and perceived is still a mystery.D. For adults, looking at people pleasantly can be a friendly sign of attention.E. Specific brain regions that respond are being explored using advanced methods.F. Our findings indicate people do feel different when they are the centre of attention.G. It’s more likely to be related to dominance of threat in conflicting situations, though.第三部分 语言运用(共两节 , 满分30分)第一节 (共15小题; 每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。Oleita thinks she may have a partial solution for two of her country’s persistent problems: garbage and poverty. When ___56___ (experience) tea lovers comment on a cup of tea, they might comment on its qi and yun. In a 2021 paper, Zhang Jinghong notes that in Chinese culture, food and drink are not judged only by taste or smell. When ___57___ (cite) the ancient saying, “Medicine and food have the same origin”, she says that the impact of food and drink on the body ___58___ (remain) an important factor in how Chinese perceive taste and quality. Just to name one example, common food descriptors like “hot” and “cold” do not describe specific temperatures, ___59___ how a dish is perceived to affect a person’s inner temperature.Keeping that ___60___ mind, what exactly do tea lovers mean when they talk about qi and yun Deng Shihai, an early expert on Pu’er tea, praised its “flavorless flavor” as the highest level Pu’er can attain. If that sounds needlessly contradictory, you’re not alone, but to Deng, it was a way to distinguish beginners at tea, __61___ focus on taste, from experts who see tea more ___62___ (whole).Qi and yun are thought to be more advanced than any simple description of taste, in part because they imply an indescribable sense of connection between people and things, and even to the ___63___ (broad) natural world. As Zhang notes, “Qi and yun ___64___ (consider) to more accurately and thoroughly express what people feel when they are touched by things, and to better reflect the ___65____ (unit) of people and things, and people and nature.” 参考词汇:刷短视频 scroll through short videosStop Scrolling, Start Reading________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Thank you for listening!第二节(满分25分)67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。When I was eighteen, I did my first part-time job in a little corner shop. The owner was a sweet old man who always believed the best in people. He had given us specific instructions that whenever the homeless man, who often hung around nearby, entered the shop, we were to offer him two sandwiches and a drink, regardless of how much money he had. Additionally, if it was hot, we were to provide him with two large bottles of water. The homeless man was always quiet and seemed appreciative of our assistance. One evening, the sky darkened as thick clouds appeared overhead, casting a frightening shadow over the landscape. There seemed to be a huge storm while my coworker called in sick, leaving me to manage the shop alone for about four hours until closing time. Just as I was about to finish my shift, the homeless man walked in with his usual gentle smile. I was relieved because I knew we had his favorite sandwiches available. I handed them to him along with his drink, and to my surprise, he handed me a $10 bill, which was much more than the small change he usually had.I said, “Oh, it looks like you get some money today. Would you like a hot pie to go with your dinner We still have a couple left!” But he declined, saying, “No, please keep the rest of the money for the owner to make up for the days when I didn’t have any money and he still fed me.” I agreed and wished him a pleasant meal. Seeing outside I noticed that it began to rain with fierce wind; the storm was on its way as expected. So I decided to close the store as quickly as possible. When retracting (收回) the advertising sign from the shop front, I was struck by our store sign, unconscious. The next thing I remember is waking up in a hospital bed with a doctor standing beside me, asking, “Hey there, you’re awake! Do you know what happened Can you tell me what day it is ” I struggled to find my voice and muster (聚集) the strength to answer his questions.Paragraph 1:I told him that all I could recall was the strong wind and being hit.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2:Our homeless friend’s selfless act of bravery did not go unnoticed.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________2025-2026学年度(下)期末调研答案高一英语试卷答案考试时间:120分钟 考试分数:150分听力:1-5 AACBC 6-10 CACBB 11-15 CCBAA 16-20 BABCA阅读:21-23 CBD 24-27 BACD 28-31 ACDB 32-35 CCAB七选五: 36-40 DBGCA完形填空:41-45 BACDA 46-50 BDBCA 51-55 CDABC语法填空:56. experienced 57. citing 58. remains 59. but 60. in61. who 62. wholly 63. broader 64. are considered 65. unity应用文(A possible version)Stop Scrolling, Start ReadingDear fellow students,Nowadays, many of us are addicted to scrolling through short videos. The doctor nodded and told me a homeless man had found me lying on the ground outside the shop and called an ambulance at once. He stayed with me until the ambulance arrived, even getting wet all over in the heavy rain. He also told the doctors the basic information about the shop so that they could contact the owner. I was shocked and moved when hearing this, tears filling my eyes. I never thought the homeless man I had helped a little would save my life in return.Paragraph 2:Our homeless friend’s selfless act of bravery did not go unnoticed. The shop owner was deeply touched after knowing what had happened. He not only thanked the man warmly but also offered him a part-time job in the shop to help him make a living. The story also spread in the neighborhood, and many people began to care about the homeless man and offer him help. Since then, the man has lived a stable life, and we have become good friends. This experience taught me that a small act of kindness can warm the world and bring unexpected rewards.听力原文(Text 1)M: I’ve finished writing the opening speech. What should I do with it W: You could print it out and bring it over to me. We can go through it together.M: OK. Thanks.(Text 2)W: Have you seen Jenkins I’ve just learned some new information that he needs to include in the report he’s working on.M: He is on vacation, and he won’t be back for another two weeks.(Text 3)M: Don’t let the sunshine fool you. If you’re walking to work, you’d better wear a thick coat.W: Well, a colleague is giving me a lift today.M: But you’ll still feel the wind when you get out of the car.(Text 4)M: The vegetarian dish smells great. Are you making any meat dishes to go with it W: Not tonight. Personally, I think we eat too much meat. (Text 5)W: I’m worried that my teenage son Tim spends so much time playing online games.M: How about encouraging him to do more physical activities W: Now that I think about it, he used to play soccer quite often.(Text 6)W: Alan, what a nice surprise! Come in.M: Hi, Kate. I was in the neighborhood, and I thought I’d drop by.W: I’m glad you did. I haven’t seen you since you moved to London.M: Yes. It’s already been a year.W: Are you back on holiday M: No, on business, but I’m planning to come on holiday next month.W: Good. I’ll see more of you then.M: Sure. What about tonight I have a business appointment at 7, but I’ll be free at 8. Would you be interested in dining out together then W: Sounds great!(Text 7)M: Cindy, I’ve finished loading the express packages onto the truck for the 11:00 shipment. It just left. I’m going to take my break now. W: Sure, Peter. By the way, you seem uncomfortable. Is your back bothering you M: A little bit, actually. But I’m sure it will go away once I get the chance to relax this weekend. W: I hope so. If it doesn’t, come and see me. I know a person who specializes in treating lower back pain. Several other workers have gone to see her, and they say she’s great.M: Thanks. I’ll definitely look into it if the pain continues.(Text 8)M: Kieran, do you have a sales update for me W: Yes, let’s see. So first, the Woof Doggy toy has been very popular. We’ve probably only got enough for about a week’s supply. M: Can you speak to the supplier to ask them to deliver some products sooner W: OK, I’ll call them.M: Good. What else has sold well W: All the princess costumes have sold out. It’s been our most popular product this quarter. New supplies are arriving tomorrow.M: Great!W: But I’m afraid there’s been very little interest in the camping kit.M: What’s the price W: 59 euros.M: Let’s see if we can sell a few more next quarter at 39 euros. If not, let’s discontinue this item.(Text 9)M: When do you think the brain is more active: when we’re awake or when we’re asleep W: When we’re awake. Am I right M: Well, actually, the brain is busier when we sleep, because our brain needs the time to do a lot of work. That’s why it’s important to get enough sleep. According to a study published in a medical journal, if you didn’t sleep for 24 hours, you’d feel as if you were drunk.W: You mean we wouldn’t be able to think clearly M: Yeah. And if we don’t sleep for a couple of days, our body won’t be able to function properly — we won’t be able to do simple things like having conversations! W: Wow!M: Sleep’s really important for our health. For one, we learn and remember things better because the brain uses the time we sleep to prepare itself for the next day. W: Hmm. M: But also, if you don’t sleep, you tend to feel hungrier. So you might put on weight.W: Sounds like sleeping is better than going on a diet!(Text 10)M: Good morning, everybody. I hope you are all here for Environment and Development 101. My name is John Robertson, and I’ll be the main lecturer for this course. But we will have some guest lecturers from time to time. And nobody has left. Great! I guess that means you all intend to take this course. Okay, next I’m going to describe the main contents and purposes of the course. Does anybody know who Howard Odom was Right. He is known as the father of ecology. He once said, “Everything is connected to everything else.” That statement explains the design of this course. As human knowledge expands, most courses, even first-year courses, get more and more specialized. This course is quite different. It focuses on the connections between different subjects.
