My Inspiration—Tu Youyou
When I was in middle school, my teacher told us the story of Tu Youyou. I was deeply inspired by her courage and perseverance. She faced many challenges but never gave up. Her story taught me that failure is not the end—it is a step toward success.
Tu Youyou was born in 1930. She studied medicine and became a researcher. In the 1960s, she was asked to lead a team to find a cure for a deadly disease. It was a very difficult task. Her team did hundreds of experiments, but they all failed. Many people would have given up, but Tu didn’t. She believed that the answer might be found in traditional Chinese medicine. She read many ancient medical books and finally found a way to develop the drug.
What I admire most about Tu Youyou is her willingness to take risks. To test the safety of the drug, she and two other researchers volunteered to try it on themselves. This showed great courage. Because of her dedication, the drug was developed and has saved millions of lives.
Tu Youyou’s story reminds me that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. She is my hero, and I hope to follow her example in my own life.

C.Hard work and determination can make anything possible. D.Only scientists can achieve greatness.
C
What Makes a Great Scientist
What makes a great scientist Some people think it is intelligence. Others believe it is luck or opportunity. But if we look at the lives of great scientists like Tu Youyou, we can see that there are certain qualities that they all share.
One important quality is curiosity. Great scientists are curious about the world. They ask questions and want to understand how things work. Another quality is perseverance. Science is full of failures. Great scientists do not give up when they fail. They learn from their mistakes and keep trying. Tu Youyou and her team did hundreds of experiments before they succeeded. If they had given up, they would never have discovered the drug.
Courage is also important. Sometimes scientists have to take risks. Tu Youyou volunteered to test the new drug on herself. This took great courage. Finally, great scientists are open-minded. They are willing to learn from different sources and try new approaches. Tu Youyou looked into traditional Chinese medicine, which was not common at the time.
In conclusion, great scientists are not just smart. They are curious, persevering, brave, and open-minded. These are qualities that anyone can develop with practice and effort.

The Power of Encouragement
Encouragement is one of the most powerful tools we have to help others succeed. It can build confidence, inspire action, and help people overcome challenges. Great leaders, teachers, and parents all understand the importance of encouragement.
When we encourage someone, we give them the courage to try new things. Lin Qiaozhi, the famous doctor, always encouraged women to keep learning. Her encouragement helped many women pursue careers in medicine. Similarly, parents who encourage their children to join challenging activities help them develop important skills and confidence.
Encouragement can also help people who are struggling. When someone fails, a word of encouragement can give them hope. They can try again and eventually succeed. The prefix “en-” in English often means “to make” or “to cause”. Words like “encourage” mean “to give courage”, and “enlarge” means “to make larger”. These words show the power of causing change in others.
