We often think humans are special because only people can show many feelings. ___26___. Bumblebees (大黄蜂) can feel happiness and even spread it to other bees. In a study in Science, a team of researchers found that good feelings could spread among animals with small brains.
They gave one bee some sugar water. This made the bee feel happy and changed how it acted. It became braver and more willing to stop on one flower and then on different flowers. It also did this more quickly than before. Other bees near it also began acting more happily and bravely, even though they didn’t get any sugar water.
To make sure that the bees weren’t just following each other, researchers used some objects to see how bees communicated to share their feelings. In this way, only some senses could function, while others did not work. They found that bees could spread happiness just by seeing each other. They didn’t need to touch or smell to catch the good feelings.
This is called feeling connection. It means feelings can spread among bees. One bee can understand and feel what another bee is feeling. Scientists used to think only animals with bigger brains could do this. It is suggested that sharing feelings is a key part of social life itself. Therefore, when you see a bee flying in the garden, it might be spreading more than just pollen (花粉) — it could be spreading joy!

In the traditional Chinese farming calendar, a year is divided into 24 solar terms and there are six terms in each season. Grain Rain (谷雨), the sixth and final solar term of spring, usually falls in late April. Its name originates from the ancient saying, “Rain brings up the growth of hundreds of grains”, showing the importance of rainfall during this period for crop growth.
Grain Rain is not just about farming, but also rich in cultural traditions. In southern China, people enjoy drinking spring tea on this day. The tea is full of vitamins and is believed to help people see better and keep bad luck away. Meanwhile, in northern China, people usually eat the red toon (香椿). This seasonal vegetable is known for being good or being good for the stomach.
Another interesting tradition belongs to coastal (沿岸的) fishermen. For many years, they have celebrated the Grain Rain Festival, which marks their first fishing trip of the year. During the festival, they pray for safety at sea and a successful fishing season.
Grain Rain is more than a sign of changing seasons. It also shows the close connection between humans and nature in Chinese culture. As spring turns to summer, people follow old customs while working with nature’s rhythm. This harmony reminds us to respect the earth’s cycles, just as farmers and fishermen have done for centuries.
