Yunnan is called “the Land of Wild Mushrooms (野生菌王国)”. There are many mountains, different forests, good weather, and special cultures. All these make Yunnan home to lots of wild mushrooms that people can eat.
The wild mushrooms in Yunnan are fresh and tasty. They grow in the natural forests and get food from the rich soil. When it rains a lot, the wet forest helps mushrooms grow well. Picking wild mushrooms is like receiving nature’s delicious gifts.
From the rainy season to early autumn, Yunnan people often share pictures of wild mushrooms on the Internet. To them, there are only two kinds of mushrooms: wild ones and the rest. Over time, eating wild mushrooms has become a part of Yunnan’s culture. Now, this culture has led to a business that brings green food to tables around the world.
Wild mushrooms taste great and can help keep us healthy. People have used them as medicine since ancient times. For example, they can help us digest (消化) food better. Some mushrooms can even help with diabetes (糖尿病).
But we must be careful when eating wild mushrooms. Make sure they are cooked well. Eat one type at a time. Do not try mushrooms you do not know. If you feel sick after eating them, you have to see a doctor quickly.
